My driving has been shocking lately, no distance and very erratic direction wise. This morning I went for a lesson, a minor tweak to my grip and lined up my shoulders properly and I was hitting it straight and long (for me).
Can't wait to get out onto the course to see if I can emulate it there too.

I know what you mean. I come out of lessons with Jason feeling like a proper golfer.

Unfortunately a combo of work and the rubbish between my ears makes in graining it all challenging.

Week off this week though. @ Center Parks and there's a driving range!!!

I had a lesson yesterday from one of the Bunkered magazine professionals, two simple tips later and the striking was back.

PGA professional lessons are a must for me.

Exactly the same for me last weekend Louise, latest in a series of lessons, first look at the driver. Usual shot is a gentle fade, longest for me (according to Game Golf since i got it last Autumn) was 230ish.

Slight tweak to shoulders, alignment and angle, and I was hitting it so much better, straight, slight draw, lower flight too.

First round after the lesson - two drives of 246 and 235.....drove through the green on our short par 4. Closest I have ever been to an eagle as my chip from the fringe stopped less than 6 inches from the hole :)

Never been one for having lessons but I decided to pop in to see the pro at my new place after my round this morning. Booked in for Monday pm as he has a free slot.

My game is OK and I know that I haven't been playing a lot recently but I'm looking for a tip or two to help me understand why my bad shot happens and more importantly help to eliminate it.

Out in 2 over gross 20 points, back in 13 Pts with a couple of blobs. Silliness and sloppiness in a couple of shots.

Why? That is what I want him to answer. Will report back later on with progress.

Need a return trip to see the pro I use and the lesson booked for the 14th can't come quick enough. In a total mess with my swing and while there are some good shots in there, so much dross and a regular slice creeping in

The real value you get from a lesson should be confidence and a better understanding of a correct motion to help you improve your game.

I had a lesson about 5-6 weeks back where my pro changed my right hand grip. For 5 of those weeks since I played absolute crap.

I could have sacked it off and gone back to my pervious grip and played on but I've stuck with it and it's now starting to bear fruit.

A juicy 74 today being an example.

Lou', it sounds like you've got some confidence back in your driving which can only be a good thing to take into the course

Are you still a stack and tilt man G ?

Having some success recently leaving my weight left if I want to hit a right to left shot.

Haven't been for a good while Gary. Happily conventional with a baby draw.

I still make a centred swing but dont keep my weight left. I found it caused me more issues than it solved.

Have the odd nosey at your swing videos and noticed you working on it.

I'm no expert but your swing still looks very stack and tilted. not that there is anything wrong with that. Crates a low point past the ball eveytime.

It's a great feeling isn't it, hope it works out for you on the course.

I've been having lessons with Steve at Blackmoor for just over a year and it feels like he knows my swing better than I do. Last time all he did was tweaked the release position of my left hand and my ball striking improved instantly.

I was struggling with my tee shots, so had a lesson with the club's new pro. A bit more shoulder turn and I am hitting the ball straight or even a bit of a draw. I would never have done this on my own.

I was struggling with some seriously erratic driving but went for a lesson this week and drove the ball absolutely superbly today. Holes 2-8 I hit every fairway miles down the middle - was leaving 85-90 yard shots in on par 4s, which at Lancaster is very useful indeed. Hitting it longer and straighter than I ever have, just through concentrating on making a full shoulder turn and making a movement with my wrists to square the club face up.
