The Rangers players asked to take a 15% pay cut

I would say that it's the opposite, except possibly for at Celtic who are missing the excitement of a genuine title challenge but for the rest of the clubs supporters there is a lot to be excited about and they are showing it by turning up at the games.

A challenge should eventually come through though. From somewhere :mmm: I read a rumour today that the plan is admin (to shed the high earners) CVA then sale and leaseback of the stadium to generate funds. If that comes to pass TRIFC will be like paupers for years and years and if it happens sooner rather than later then getting to the top league might be too much of a challenge in consecutive years.

Yeah I see what you're saying, but I'm talking more from an outsiders perspective on the matter. To others, not affiliated with the league where having two big teams vying for top spot was more exciting, but as I say it does leave the opportunity for more challengers to come through making it more exciting, or alternatively Celtic will piss the league every year for the foreseeable future

If my memory serves me I don't think Celtic headed the league until about a dozen games in.
Hearts who are in administration, and are playing a team of boys who have yet to learn how to shave, ran then close in their last game.

What you really mean is "Celtic aren't getting a full house every week due to Rangers being out of the league"

Are you related to that doom and gloom clown Doncaster?

So far this season, on average from last season

Celtic up around 1500

Hearts crowds up around 1200

Hibs crowd up around 400

Dundee United crowd up around 100

Motherwell up around 50

St Mirren up around 50

St Johnstone up around 400

Only Ross County, Kilmarnock and Inverness have so far seen a drop in their average from last season

The absence of Rangers in the top league is killing Scottish football? Really? These figures would say different.

You failed to note though that Celtics attendance last year had dropped on average by over 5000 from the season before. I will also add that Celtics season ticket cost has also dropped in price without Rangers there, this has been offset financially by making the CL group stages 2 years running but this point shouldn't be forgotten.

The biggest ambition of teams in the top tier is to finish second, no one other than Celtic is going to win it.

Scottish football is finished, Hearts will be replaced next season in the top tier by probably Hamilton or Dundee who'll be lucky to average 5000 a season.

Scottish football needs a strong Rangers in the top tier, even a blind man can see that.

Fans turning up at games doesnt make the spectacle any better though, the standard is poor at best.

Celtic at their best could probably hold their own in the Premiership, the remainder would do well to finish top half of league 1

Absolutely

I also think we are starting to see the re-emergence of a strong Aberdeen. Big and relatively wealthy fan base up there with huge catchment area that was swayed by the glamour and success of the old Rangers. Anyway I hope that's the case - we could do with a couple of big home game attendances against the Dons.

I hope so, there's been so many false dawns with Aberdeen over the years we could do with them being strong again, they have the fan base and now have a decent enough team.

And a decent manager in Derek McInnes, who along with Jackie Macnamara and Paul Hartley seem to be setting a good standard for young Scots managers

Quote:

"And McCoist says he has sympathy for his players, stating they were not to blame for any financial problems at the club.
He said: "I don't know who is responsible but I do know who is not responsible and that's the players and supporters, who have given us two years of 36,000 season tickets.

"I have my own ideas about who is responsible, but I would rather keep them to myself.""

£800,000 a year to manage a team in Scotland's bottom rung, a league where players at Berwick Rangers earn £150 a week with a win bonus, plush hotel rooms for away games, £60k company vehicle etc etc. Yeah, I am sure you have your own ideas about who is responsible Alistair.:smirk:

I'm no way or ever will be a Celtic fan, but to see The Rangers plight it makes my life that little bit better, It's like a gift that keeps on giving and giving and giving.
Their draconian fans deserve this shambles after all their years of bigotry and the we are the people *****.

It will be a great day for Scottish Football when they die and hopefully the other half will then bugger off too.Along with the whole corrupt SFA and media.

It's going to be like having Thatcher dying twice.

Is there anyone you would like to survive? I bet a funeral is your idea of a good time.

From The Bears Den TRIFC fans forum (always good for an insight into the mind of your average Teddy Bear)

...former Manchester City chief operating officer is finally set to make good on his promises in the coming days. He will sit down with representatives of the three main supporters organisations - the Assembly, the Association and the Trust.
It will be a timely summit after it emerged players were asked to take a 15% pay cut last Thursday. The proposal - which was flatly rejected by Ally McCoist's squad - has led to speculation that Rangers could go into administration again.
The Ibrox club is currently operating at a loss and financial director Brain Stockbridge has admitted there will only be £1million left in the bank by April.

£1million is about the same as Saintees had in the bank at end of last season - and even for us that was not a great deal of money.

...and reading elsewhere we come across Rangers supporters rightly gobsmacked that the team and hingers oan - stayed in Turnberry Hotel the night before their away game - to Stranraer (for those of you weak on geography of SW Scotland - it's not that far from Glasgow). Mind you Ally says that they stayed in the lodges - which are a wee bit cheaper than the main hotel itself - so that would have been OK then.

Unbelievable, it is an hour and a half's coach journey from Ibrox.......

Come to think of it that guy at the Girvan chippy on Friday night did look quite familiar.
