The Rangers players asked to take a 15% pay cut

Lots of rumours about regards the Jam Tarts at the moment.

I know for a fact that they have been speaking to a Championship team with regards ground share for next season and many at BRFC seem to be of the opinion due to what they are hearing from friends within the game that the Jambos could be playing in the 2nd Division next season.

Dire stuff and they won't be alone I would not think.

...and reading elsewhere we come across Rangers supporters rightly gobsmacked that the team and hingers oan - stayed in Turnberry Hotel the night before their away game - to Stranraer (for those of you weak on geography of SW Scotland - it's not that far from Glasgow). Mind you Ally says that they stayed in the lodges - which are a wee bit cheaper than the main hotel itself - so that would have been OK then.

Not that I am defending it but wasn't it Forfar and gleneagles?

Edit: nah that's tonight.

Great news
UBIG just sold their 50% share in Hearts to the Hearts Foundation for a nominal £50k

Correction should read ...agreed to sell.
Has to be ratified by the Lithuanian courts.

Scottish football is finished, Hearts will be replaced next season in the top tier by probably Hamilton or Dundee who'll be lucky to average 5000 a season.

Scottish football needs a strong Rangers in the top tier, even a blind man can see that.

Or an alternate point of view, would be for Celtc to leave Scottish football for another league, ideally taking The Rangers with them, removing the duopoly, and allowing a recalibrated league with realistic financials in place to flourish.I'd use Sweden or Norway as examples of where Scotland should be aiming.

The attendances of the football clubs outside the OF are consistent ( although I note the 26K at Parkhead for the Hibs fixture before xmas...that must have been a low post-McCann?) so we need to re-adjust.

This scenario would be welcomed by the boards of Celtc and Rangers, they'd jump at the chance to leave Scottish football. Both clubs look down their noses at the rest of us, we're an inconvenience...note Celtc postponing a league fixture to take part in a friendly tournament in Turkey recently.

There is one issue though. No other league wants you, whether the reason is self preservation on their part, not wanting the collateral damage a visit from either team results in or other leagues not accepting that either Celtc or Rangers are really that relevant anymore, I don't know.

Scottish football isn't finished, we just need to find our level, and we can't do that with two parasites the size of the OF.

Interesting that Only one of Wallace's plans for financial restraint has actually been made public and at the same time as McCoist is ridiculed for taking the players to Carnoustie on their way to Forfar on Monday night.
The initial headlines implied and overnight stay, when in fact they stopped for a meal and some rest.

Someone is obviously releasing these stories to suit their own agenda, to weaken the support of McCoist with the fans and general media. My guess and own personal opinion is it is Rangers own media guru mr Jack Irvine.

To be fair I have stayed in that hotel for £40 a room a night and the food was dire so I would expect nothing less from the bargain basement club.;)

I'll have salt and vinegar with that chip please. Bitter much?

So the leak of story has backfired for being cheapskates ;)

To be honest I don't get the crap at this story. Even the Dream Team stop for the same when travelling further north than Dundee. What they supposed to do,fire into the local chippy for a chip butty and eat it while walking along the seafront to stretch their legs?!:D

I agree, but I think the timing is more interesting. As you say many clubs do this as a matter of course and no one makes an issue of it.

Please note that I mentioned the source of the TRIFC stay at Turnberry story - The Bears Den!

And forum members commenting on it and that it seemed OTT given everything.

Have to agree with the way the club has been loosing money, you would think that those in charge of organising travel and accommodation could get somewhere for a stop over that was adequate for food and rest, without always picking the expensive four and five star resorts. I know Ally said he wants the team to be professional but surely they can do it cheaper !!

Interesting that the wages of the players were only 30% of the business turnover.

Is 6m a year OK the when you are playing against brickies and whatnot in the bottom tier and losing g over 14 million in 13 months?

the point I was making was that the 30% players wages to turnover ratio is well within the guidelines of UEFA. The loss of £14 million over 13 months, as has been mentioned many times before, was to do with the ridiculously high cost of the ipo and Chuck and his cronies with their snouts in the trough !!

So far Wallace is saying the right things and is also in the process of meeting all of the supporter's club representatives. Although what weight does he carry in the boardroom to carryout his processes ? Also what has happened to the Easdales alleged purchase of Chuck's shares that was due to happen in December, the silence is deafening on that one.

It makes it all the more laughable Chris.

Starting as a new club with 36k season ticket holders should have been licence to make a huge amount of money and stand them in fantastic stead for when they eventually got to the top league but by spunking out salaries like that to win tin pot leagues where the highest wage will be no more that £500 a week and at average nearer £200 a week was madness.

The Fat Lad summed it up "We are still Rangers Football Club".......still playing at being a big club when what is needed is some prudent financial management to enable them to build into a big club.

The gift that just keeps giving.:smirk:

So is it OK to spend £6m a year in the bottom league. Of Scotland. Against part time postmen etc?

And dodger you are right it is laughable to think that ally wants even more players for the "assault" on the second half of the second worst league

Yes I am bitter, like most folk who don't follow either side of the tawdry coin.

And it's salt n sauce, you peasant.

Nah,it's always vinegar, never understood the sauce thing.especially not with good Irish chipped potatoes.;)

Well that's Brian Stockbridge, the much maligned finance director, left the club by mutual consent. This happened this afternoon after a meeting with Graeme Wallace. That will be some money saved in the short term on his salary. It appears Wallace means business after all. Just wonder if the 2 million shares traded today were STockbridges, one final pay day :(
