I just wish Westwood had a little more confidence with his putter. Without a doubt in my mind one of the best golfers from Tee to Green.

He gets a lot of abuse on here, but I you have to feel a bit sorry for him. He's without question the best ball striker in the world right now (as far as I can see), but NO putt is a gimme with him. His lag putting is really solid, but 10ft and in is painful to watch. I hope, by some miracle, that he can work it out, if only for one week, and get the major he deserves.

Yes, but the scary thing is, there were at least two par saves and 2 more birdie putts (at least) which were ALL makeable, which he missed which would have made him 11 under. If he could putt, he'd be unstoppable.

In all seriousness, does Lee wear glasses off the course? Of course he rolls in his fair share of putts, but sometimes the ones he misses are well struck putts, but not good 'reads'. The putt he hit on the 17th yesterday missed the hole by a good 18inches to the right on a 15 footer - that is not putting technique surely? Maybe he needs to do the Keegan Bradley 'evil eye' thing?

I agree with Paperboy. It was interesting to hear the views of David "Howeller" Howell on Sky yesterday. He reckons Westwood tries to force it too much sometimes which is due to frustration. He gets more birdie chances than most due to his superior ball striking. From what I saw yesterday he did get frustrated & was hitting some putts way too hard. The birdie putt at 14 springs to mind where he was 20-25 foot away max & ended up 3 putting. He did well to birdie 15 & 16 after that.

I sometimes think he gets a bit yippy particularly on some long putts where he almost snatches at the ball, he doesn't appear to have a smooth stroke at all.

my old pro tried to sell us on the WESTWOOD putting aid,i think westy should try one himself for a top pro his chipping and putting are both crap.
