The Masters 2026

Would be interesting to see how much more difficult the last stretch of holes played in the afternoon compared to the morning. A lot of heavily tipped players struggled at various points (not just LIV players), assuming similar scores today the cut line could be significantly over par (+3 yesterday for top 50 & ties - it's unlikely to move to +6 though, maybe +4?), so opportunity for Rahm, BDC, Min Woo, Macintyre etc. to be there for the weekend.

Faldo seemed to suggest the 'committee' want a winning score in single digits so imagine the greens and run-offs will be superfast over the weekend.

Back to the actual golf for a sec.

Just seen day 2 pin positions on the Masters app, if the course is still drying out and form like yesterday there could be some naughty high scores. There’s some cheeky pin positions, some very accessible but others in absolute 3 or worse putt territory if you hit the wrong part of the green.

Even Hatton takes the mick out of himself about how he lets off steam. But of course there's always someone who epitomises the stereotype, and Bob could be the poster-boy for "dour Scotsman," even if it only on-course.

Maybe if he had nicer shirts it'd cheer him up! :-)

And that is the difference between Hatton and Bob. Hatton can be exceptionally boorish on the course, but he clearly KNOWS that, and acknowledges it in post round interviews, invariably with a smile as he does so. MacIntyre is the complete opposite.

It grinds my gears when it is pointed out to me “But this is his livelihood blah, blah”. I get that. But if the field was full of Bob MacIntyres every week I would never turn the TV on, or pay my hard earned to go to Wentworth and other events every year, as I do. And if everyone adopted the same approach, Bob MacIntyre would not earn a penny from his God given talent to hit a golf ball.

So he had a bad hole which contributed to a crap round. It happens. Get over it.

Freddie Couples might just of shot the best 78 of all time.
He was -2 then they showed him with his approach to the 18th and he was +7.
Quad, double,double on 15,16 & 17.
Can’t see him ever making it with that sort of bottle job 🤣

Longest iron is a 7 and despite the run of bad holes, that is a score!

Yeah its going to be an enthralling watch in the evening. all eyes on Scheffler and Rose see if they can get into the lead before it bakes out

This was actually my biggest annoyance with yesterday's coverage.

You get a sprinkling of Couples going along nicely at -2 with a few nice highlight shots. Given how tough it ws to shoot -2 round there yesterday, and the fact nobody can win the tournament on the first day, it's probably the biggest story of the day that a 66yo FC is doing this and looking quality in the process.

Then all of a sudden he's at +7 and you haven't seen or heard anything as to why - and never even get to see any of it.
Not expecting wall-to-wall live coverage of FC, but at least a few clips of "this just happened" sprinkled into the coverage were clearly needed.

When the TV coverage doesn't show the most significant events of the day then it's got it very badly wrong.

For comparison, when I’m doing my job I’ll often be swearing at my laptop ‘Jesus f***’ and sticking my fingers up when I’m on a teams meeting, camera off!

Absolutely cannot abide the man.

On the course he has to be one of the most humourless, petulant, sulky individuals I have ever seen playing the game.

I’m sure he’s a lovely guy away from the course, but we only really see what’s on it, and he is one player I’d happily never see hit another shot.
Iona speaks very highly of him, that's good enough for me!

Looks like my 2 sweepstake picks (Berger and Greyserman) are going to be too rubbish to make the cut, never mind be placed, but not rubbish enough for me to win the Last Place prize
