The Masters 2025

Tiger was a Titan, whose golf angered the Olympians, as he was better than they. In 2008 they tried to curtail his US Open by wounding him, but his win only, even more impressive than before, so enraged them that they set about destroying his life completely. They took their eye off him after that considering their work complete. But the Titan's golf was do powerful that the 2019 Masters, a feat so great even Zeus himself knew he could never better, and he was driven to a fury, hurling a thunderbolt at Hawthorne Avenue, breaking our Titan Woods definitively. Even the other Olympians rebuked Zeus for going too far, as gods and mortals alike, shed a collective tear.

You are a day late 😂

#1 golfer - arguably although based on majors alone Nicklaus is the GOAT.

Best sportsman - maybe top 10 at a push
Absolute nonsense, name a single sportsman let alone 10 who have been more important.
Pretty sure he was the highest earner at some point?

Muhammed Ali
Usain Bolt
Lionel Messi
Cristiano Ronaldo
Micheal Jordan
Micheal Phelps
Novak Djokovic
Serena Williams
Golf wouldn’t be where it is without Woods imo.
He transformed the sport.
Football without messi & Ronaldo would be where it is.
Phelps,no one other than proper swimming fans care about swimming until the olympics.

Impossible argument - but nothing new on here! You cannot compare different sports, different eras, etc to decide greatest.

Also, Jack Nicklaus and LIV has done more to change golf than Tiger did. Or any of the pioneers like Christine Langford who founded the WPGA. They changed the sport.

When someone says that x person changed x sport most of the time the sport has just become richer

Nicklaus was superb as a golfer but he didn’t make it the worldwide appeal that Woods did

I’m no massive fan of Woods but he changed golf more than anyone else - he is the one that had the worldwide appeal with multiple different demographics

He was a black kid working hard to break down barriers in a rich white mans sport

He made the sport more accessible

Tiger has not changed golf, he has changed people's perception of the game (possibly) but, apart from TGL, he has not changed the game. No new innovations, no new event styles, the game of golf is still the same.

I don't know. They literally made up a name for how he changed the sport.

Tiger proofing the course.

If looking at the way the game is played then he is prob the first that’s come along and brought fitness and strength into it , long drives and hours in the gym , many courses in majors and comps are extending because of the way they hit the ball now , even changing the ball to reduce the length , that all started with Woods

“Tiger proofing”

The Tour changed because of Woods , they were able to branch out and create 12 months tour golf because of his worldwide appeal

If you are just talking the basics of the game well that’s not changed since the 1800’s etc

But he changed the way the game was played

My wife has made plans for us on the Saturday afternoon/evening and the Sunday afternoon. What an absolute bloody disaster! We'd better be back early on Sunday or divorce will be on the cards!

Disagree about Nicklaus. He made the sport global in the 60's and 70's along with Palmer and Player

What do you mean ‘made the sport global’ though? (the sport was already entrenched in a helluva lot of countries before these guys were born)

Geographical reach of their achievements I can understand with newsreels & newspaper coverage following round the world hours/days/weeks after they played, but I doubt that kind of coverage relates to the numbers of the population playing/following golf to anything remotely close to what modern day players do (& in particular what Woods reached)
