The Masters 2025

There must be something deeper than lets run a tournament.
A bit of woke flagging ? Mens version doesnt seem to attract the same interest. Or if they were really committed, they would hold a ladies Masters which would automatically give women a true third major.
Woke flagging ?

Maybe it’s just dragging themselves into the modern world where they are looking to encourage the sport for all

The ANWA tournament was established by the Augusta National Golf Club a few years ago to raise the profile of women's amateur golf. There isn't an amateur men's equivalent - though each year maybe half a doz of the top amateur men get invites to The Masters. It's held as now right before The Masters as the world of golf's attention turns to The Masters. I'll let the words of the club itself describe it better than I.

'The Augusta National Women’s Amateur was announced on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, by Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley during his annual press conference at the Masters Tournament. The event was established to inspire greater interest and participation in the women’s game by creating a new, exciting and rewarding pathway for these players to fulfill their dreams'

See Rory already setting his excuses up with the dodgy elbow line. Either that or he's trying to take a bit of pressure of himself.

And yet only one of the three rounds is played over the Augusta National course.

Smacks of tokenism and not unlike the Drive, Chip & Putt contest for kids.

Has Rory been getting some coaching off Andy Murray's mum? When you know you won't win make up an injury

I'm wondering how well the dirty dozen will play. You'd be forgiven for thinking it's just between Scotty and Rory. I'm sure BDC has other ideas.

This was a good move from an organisation not previously known for its inclusiveness.

Reckon I'd go for The Field if I was asked under pressure.
