I was on the committee when we went to all booked tee times after a log discussion we went for 8 pm in the evening 8 days in advance
Reasonings -
8 days in advance meant it was not on the same weekday as the one you are trying to book
It was a time that would suit the majority
It was a time when the office was closed so they would not become inundated with phone calls if it was not working.

Works well but it does not stop the fastest fingers first, I reckon no time would stop that.

Have you considered approaching the club for a review?
When my club brought in a booking system we were originally 8 days in advance at 7.45pm which I thought was stupid. I campaigned to have it changed to 7 days which they did. Seems silly that a bunch of guys playing on any given day have to make calls/texts/whatsapps to arrange the following weeks game when you will all be seeing each other the next day.

But, sensible that if you play on Saturday then you might be on the course when bookings opened.
We are 7 days in advance at 8am. I and others are often on the course trying to book on our phones.

Bunkers seem to be the one we rate as poor.
Is it cost or just members being lazy.
I do know the cost of sand has rocketed
But lazy members / visitors don’t help by not raking them.

We book at 7.45pm, if you play late enough that you are still on the course at that time then you'll have no issues getting a time anyway.

Yep. Historically, antisemites did not let Jews into their golf clubs, so they built their own.

Not being racist themselves, anyone else was free to join.

Odd how antisemitism isn't classified as racism by some.
That’s how Bonnyton nr Eaglesham south of Glasgow came about. I never played it but I read it’s a decent moorland course.

Did you think it was stupid because it did not suit you? Did you consider all members when starting your campaign?
Being on the club committee when it was decided I reckon we took all members in to consideration as well as the office.

e.g 7 days does not make sense if it opens at a time when players may well still be on the course (summer). We get a lot of after work players on our course in the evening.

See whilst I'm not a fan of out booking system for one situation in other ways I like how it works..we as members get 2 weeks in advance, I think that's a good amount of time as non members get a week so we can get our slots (Shame not visible to visitors). It opens at 06:30 aswell rather than say midnight which I thought was a good decision, not unreasonable if someone wants to get up and book a slot if In a rush but no sneaky midnight bookings

OR.. dragging the sand out of the bottom so that the raking machine then catches & damages the lining... Doooh

See post #85

I assume all your members only play on alternative days, never back to back to avoid the problem you have described?

Legend goes ( don’t quote me) that people didn’t trust Jewish people not to try and take over the club.
This was straight from a Jewish member of the committee, but not sure if it was true or not!
Could be a biased view.

So they were refused entry into clubs.

So they opened their own. But let others join , finance I suppose.

The clubhouse used to close on Jewish holidays but course stayed open.
Yes that attitude and behaviour was prevalent around here as well, Southport area. Awful quite frankly.
What I can't understand is the acceptance of it when merry hell should have been raised.

Yeah I looked it up and found a great article about Bonnyton. Surprised I've never known about this. Looks a cracking course as well.
Growing up fairly close to Bonnyton in the 60s and 70s I got to know about it from Jewish friends (and all my best friends at school were Jewish) who played golf. When I looked to join a club in the mid-70s I’m afraid joining was never on my radar as it was ‘the Jewish club’…whether it still was at the time I just don’t know. Besides, getting to it would have been awkward and I had my name down for Whitecraigs as it was 15mins walk from home, but the waiting list was 7yrs and I was able to join East Ren as an associate member as I waited. I never joined Whitecraigs.

Played all three of them.
You lucky boy having them local.
Three cracking courses.
I absolutely loved East Renfrewshire.

Well YES but!! They could also have chosen to put conditions in place to avoid that. Rather like they have in the top course around here in Leeds to prevent a group from taking over.
