Didn't the forum get an email from the Sky golf channel? The reason it went off air was due to the price of the programs and the quality coming over from the states, since they couldn't run at profit they closed the doors and Satanta bought the crap yank programs to repeat every other week that Sky had been showing?

I found the statement from the Golf Channel: -

Hi

I can confirm that The Golf Channel UK will cease broadcasting today.

After 4 very happy years we had to take the commercial decision based upon a number of factors.

1) Cost of "good" quality programming. Yes we could have got cheaper programming but not without denigrating the viewer experience

2) Lack of availability of good programming and rights.

3) The commercial revenues that were projected over the coming years.

I'd like to thank all those viewers who have supported the channel since 2003 I believe we created a great channel with programmes that golfers wanted to watch. We also managed to cater for a wide range of golf tastes so if a particular show wasn't for you another certainly would be just right.

The Shopping channel continues as does the US version of the Golf Channel.

Wasn't there a program years ago presented by Tony Jacklin with Sam Torrance and Sandy Lyle as the captains? They did one series at Loch Lomond when it first opened and another somewhere in Ireland. Seem to remember it being on around Christmas time, maybe on Ch4.

Didn't see that... wouldn't mind though either.

There were 10 on Ch 4 in 1994, can only find these
Lyle, Baker-Finch, Russ Abbot and Mike Gatting
Lyle, Baker-Finch, Bruce Forsythe and John Regis

But how's this for a combination (1982) (Peter Alliss)
Crenshaw, Trevino, Tarbuck and Sykes

If anyone can find a copy of this, I want it!
