I remember after Leicester won the league there was a bit of a crackdown on pushing and pulling at set pieces - probably because Leicester winning the league upset the authorities as one of their precious 'big' teams didn't win it, and thus Leicester had to be stopped. But the following couple of years after that there were a lot more free kicks given. I guess it's fallen by the wayside and they need another crackdown again.

I'd have thought that Leicester winning the Premier League was one of the greatest things to happen for the authorities, in that it was one of the greatest stories on PL history?

At any rate, is that how Leicester were deemed to have won the PL? All I remember is great moments and play from the likes of Vardy and Mahrez.

I don’t think they changed any rules based on Leicester winning the title and they didn’t win the title based on set pieces 🤷‍♂️

Of course those two and KantĂŠ were class, mostly on counter attacks. But they also had Huth and Morgan, a couple of units and beasts at set pieces at both ends of the field.

I didn't say they changed any rules, I said they started cracking down on fouls at set pieces.

Leicester noticeably struggled the season afterwards with fouls being given against Huth and Morgan particularly. Obviously the authorities didn't come and say it was to punish Leicester. But there were some parallels with the current season, when a team does especially well with set pieces and gets to the top of the league, people don't like it and want to knock them down. (Granted, if they are committing fouls that they're getting away with I think a crackdown is warranted.)

Leicester struggled due to players leaving the club that were key to them winning

They had a one off season where everything aligned

We always see “crackdowns” over the decades - there was a crack down of people constantly shouting at the ref - a few red cards but nothing changed

Couple seasons ago they had a crackdown of pulling shirts on box etc

These “crackdowns” achieve little because they don’t continue it

Every set piece now is just a melee and free for all

None, it’s a still image and can’t be relied on, both teams were grabbing, shoving each other.
Oh dear! You really don't think that 3 of the Arsenal players are holding the Chelsea players? You can clearly see that one actually has his hands linked around the attacker, preventing him from moving.
