Yeah, it's just a nonsense way of saying fans want to see attacking football. I wonder if Stoke fans talk about 'the Stoke way', which would be a 4-4-2 of industrious players and long throws.

Honestly, some Spurs fans still credit Ange for playing 'the Spurs way' even though it lost us two thirds of our games. Fans are dumb.

Bit isn't losing two thirds of your games 'The Spurs Way'? ;)

That helps with it and they still need to pay compensation to the other club who they own anyway but has to go through the books
His salary will be accounted for annually, so spreading it over 6 years makes no difference. Any compensation is surely nominal, unless it's another way of moving money around within the ownership.

It still doesn't make sense, I don't see 6 yrs being an accounting method on this occasion.

Looking at the reports you’re right - it seems they want to have stability so given him a long contract 🤦‍♂️

There will be about a gazillion break clauses in that 6 year contract. It sounds good in the media, it’s a snazzy headline, but rest assured he won’t be getting paid 6 years salary if(when?) he is sacked in the next 12-18 months.

I don’t think many Chelsea fans are under the impression he’s going to succeed, nor be there for that long.

His Strasbourg side were underperforming after spending more money than anyone in the league except PSG. They got outclassed by a bottom half team at the weekend.

It’s all a bit underwhelming. I don’t even particularly like the few snippets I’ve read from him, he’s like Graham Potter V2.

Clearly though, there’s a bit of a strange changing of the guard with managers. There’s no real big names across Europe that anyone is desperate to get in, United have the same woes… The recruitment strategy around “head coach” roles is all a bit alien to me.

Jeez, are you all still talking about Manyoo, rather than getting excited about the MASSIVE game that's on tonight???

I am of course talking about West Ham v Forest.

Or, if you wish to use the proper name: El Crappio.
Thoughts on this one appreciated Don B. Spent a week away with a Forest fan and she sent me this.

We should be on the phone to Edu now, 'Beto and Barry are available, sure they will fit in. We will even cover the taxi for both of them across to Nottingham'.

As a City fan, what do you think about McAtee not getting a game? He looked good last year, I would have liked him at Everton based on those performances. He's barely had a sniff this season.

I don’t disagree. Which managers have proven track records these days though ? We tried it with LVG and it didn’t work ….he’d won the champs league , la liga and bundesliga !

I’ve honestly no idea who I’d have.

I agree there's a lack of proven managers out there at the moment. LVG was way past his best when you got him though.

I personally don't rate Glasner that highly. He's done well at Palace but plays a back 3 and hasn't done it at a big club, which is a whole different level.

I would honestly give it to Ole for the rest of the season as he's proven he can be a good short term manager, get the positive feelings back and plays a very solid 4231 which suits most of the team. I would then get Poch in because he's someone that has experience in England and did well at Spurs and at Chelsea given the circumstances. He's also had the pressure of managing a top team in PSG and won things. He's made some poor career moves but he ticks all the boxes for a long term Utd manager in my eyes.

The only real "busts" on here, for me, are Dan Ndoye and maybe McAtee but Jury is out on him a bit. I'm sure there's a good player in there, but we've yet to see enough of him! On Ndoye, he basically scores or assists (or both!) every time he plays for his country - so he's not a bad footballer, but don't think he's suited to the Premier League (not yet, anyway)

Hutchinson wasn't given a chance under Nuno (refused to play or even speak to him, left him out of the Europa league squad) and Ange. He's playing regularly under Dyche and looks far and away our best winger. Always attacking his man and has provided a few assists to go along with his debut goal now. He'll start bagging a few more. He'l be added to the Europa League squad in the knockout phase too, thankfully!

Once Jesus learns how to consistently work Premier League defences, he will score a lot of goals, I think. His hold up play is absolutely superb - he just hasn't had the service a lot of the time. He's had more success in Europe though.

Again Kali's barely been given a chance but definitely a player in there and he's scored a few good goals in Europe. It sounds like we're loaning him to Frankfurt, which is baffling, frankly!

Can't judge Bakwa as he picked up an injury a few weeks into the season and only just come back into the squad - looks like a good winger from glimpses so far. Hopefully he gets the start tonight.

All in all - not great, but too early to call it a total disaster. They're all players who had really good seasons last year (aside from McAtee, arguably), so on paper seemed good signings.

Either way, Edu has come in and ruffled too many feathers, bought in players that Nuno didn't want (which caused him to throw his toys out the pram and leave - looks like he's doing similar at West Ham, as they'e terminated Callum Wilsons contract as Nuno doesn't like him!), and generally caused a lot of unrest. So I'd like to see Edu gone ASAP.

He's looked ineffective most of the time he's come on. Or just "ok"...I just dont' think he suits the style of football we play. Needs tippy, tappy pep ball I think.

I think this is always going to be a problem, what do you need to do, or have done, to be a proven manager. If it's won the premier league in the last 10 years or so, then that's a very small list

Ole’s (back) at the wheel apparently.

Nice chap but a limited manager. I guess we’re looking for a short term bounce, get the feel good back and then try for a permanent solution in the summer.

Can’t help but feel this is a never ending cycle now and will only end when the present ownership (politely) go away.

I have no issue with Solskjaer as a stop gap. It’s not as though there are a host of options available if a caretaker manager is the way the club want to go.

For all his faults, and his total lack of any Plan B, the football under Solskjaer was at least entertaining. And let’s face it, we certainly need some entertainment.

Such is the malaise at the moment that I have now secured tickets for Brighton this weekend, the derby, Spurs and Fulham. At least two of those have been sell outs for weeks, if not months, but tickets are being returned.

Can’t think why……..
