Think the travelling Forest Referee went home happy. 🤬
😂😂

Your disallowed should never have even happened as we should have been awarded a corner after the ball quite obviously came off a defender, right before the goal kick that started the sequence of the goal. So don’t feel too bad 😅

Tonight was a Terrible game between two terrible teams. We just happened to be a little bit less terrible on the night.

Rare that I don’t bother with a game. Having watched both teams this season, it wasn’t a match that lit my candle - glad I missed it.

Most footy fans for any team would say they don’t get the rub of the green….having watched those VAR decisions again this morning ….im adding us to the top of the list…not even sure it’s debatable , particularly jimmys goal.

Not the reason we’re going down but would be lovely to get some in our favour .

That’s the thing. The decisions that go against you in a game you lose feel absolutely massive, more so when you’re at either of the extreme ends of the table.

Same decision goes against you in a game you win and it just doesn’t register as hard.

By the letter of the law the goal was correctly chalked off

The penalty - after what happened with Onana and the PGMOL admitting that it should have been a penalty then you can see why they gave it

What how many West Ham fans were wishing they could get Moyes back

@Fade and Die what's your view now on the Nuno situation? Is he going to get sacked now, soon, or is he given the rest of the season and maybe beyond?

I read varying things elsewhere from Hammers. There seems to be a general agreement that the chairman is the main problem, but differing views on Nuno himself. Some say he's not to blame and that he has a poor squad, while some cite negative tactics and throwing his toys out the pram over a couple of off-field issues (which sounds familiar).

What's your take?

We've had our fair share of terrible decisions - I think it goes with the territory when you're fighting at the bottom of the table too and I think this just exacerbates things when you're fighting for your lives.

Just last week against City, PGMOL have now confirmed that City should have had a man sent off....but will Rob Jones get punished for being terrible at his job (not for the first time I might add), of course he won't. Point is, we're just going round and round in circles about terrible refereeing/VAR decisions every single week and it never gets better for anyone.

What they really need is for clubs themselves to kick up more of a fuss about it. The more that do it, the better.

When any club does this though (and I could name names ;)), they are roundly criticised by fans of other clubs for it - the same fans who themselves moan and whinge about referees every single week.

🤷‍♂️

The issue is 99% of the time there isn’t any issues

Doesn’t matter what system is in place there will still be moans

It’s part of the sport

There will always be human interaction and when a human is involved it will never be perfect

I honestly think this is a massive knee-jerk. He's had an upturn in form this season, sure. Is he Man City quality already? Not for me - hasn't done at the top for long enough. Can't see him getting many games long-term.

It’s very similar career trajectory to Sadio Mane

We got him after he was doing ok at Southampton over two seasons

And Semenyo has done well over the last 18 months

The odd thing is about this thread. It is called Footie thread. However every week we end up talking about Flippin VAR. That’s how bad it is in its present guise. And yet we were mugged into believing it would be better for the game.

I'm disappointed with Nuno, and its not just his lack of motivational skills (I think the side is a bit better than our current position tbh) its some of his bizarre decisions that make him seem a bit clueless... playing Soucek and Irving as a midfield pairing was disastrous. His substitutions have been poor, bringing on the likes of Soucek and losing 2 goal leads. Playing Scarles on the right and KWP on the left, Todibo moving him from LCH to RCH after playing so well on the left. Playing without a striker. Just strange stuff.

However as you mention the big problem at the club is the Chairman, since Moyes, he got rid of the director of football and has just recruited cheap unemployed managers, also the buying and selling has all been down to him and that's been a nightmare, since we sold Rice loads of money has just been wasted. There are protests, although they are pretty weak as there is an air of apathy about everything at the club at the moment, they want the Chairman to stand down and appoint an experienced CEO to run the club but Sullivan is a stubborn man who has delusions of grandeur that he can run a football club so its not likely to happen.

@Arthur Wedge anybody who wants Moyes back must have a very short memory, his last six months at the club were terrible, very negative football, heavy losses, (we conceded 74 goals that season!) and out of the last 19 games we won only 4 games. He had assembled the oldest and probably slowest side in the league. It was best for all parties that we went our separate ways.

I feel resigned to relegation now and am trying to spin it in my head that it might be just the reset we need!:sneaky:

Generally agree. But when the system itself is broken, it needs a change.

I would speculate that most people's view on VAR (for example) GENERALLY would fall into one of three categories:

1. VAR is perfect as it is. Don't change it at all.

2. VAR is a bunch or arse. Scrap it all together.

3. I like the fact that we have the technology for video assistance. I would like to keep it, but the way in which it is used and executed isn't good enough and they need to improve it.

I would further speculate, based on everything I see and hear from them that most fans, players, managers etc would fall into categorys 2 or 3, with only a small percentage falling into category 1. So system overhaul needed in one form or another.

I'm amused when pundits mention how many managers Utd have had since Fergie left, as if we are a club like Watford (ironically, many of the same people are the ones screaming for Utd to sack the manager, and criticise them when they stay on longer than they think they should).

So, I tried to put together a list of permanent managers all PL clubs have had since Fergie left, as a comparison. Only because apert from Moyes and Amorim (who still got full years), I've always felt Utd have stuck by managers for quite a long time, even when things are poor. And fans have given managers a lot of time as well. The list includes Watford (just for a laugh), and I also put the total managers, including caretakers, in brackets:

1. Watford 21 (23)
2. Forest 16 (19)
3. Sunderland 14 (24)
4. Leeds 14 (16)
5. Chelsea 11 (14)
6. Fulham 9 (10)
7. Everton 9 (16)
8. Spurs 9 (11)
9. Palace 9 (13)
10. Wolves 9 (9)
11. Villa 8 (8)
12. West Ham 8 (8)
13. Brentford 7 (8)
14. Brighton 7 (8)
15. Man Utd 6 (11)
16. Newcastle 6 (8)
17. Bournemouth 5 (5)
18. Arsenal 3 (4)
19. Liverpool 3 (3)
20. Burnley 3 (4)
21. Man City 2 (3)

Given the absolute mess Man Utd have been in for a decade, and the constant media and fan scrutiny, I think they have done remarkably well to have only had 6 permanent managers (soon to be 7). They have been guilty of many things, but being trigger happy with managers is surely not one of them, if you compare the most other clubs. Not surprised to see Liverpool and City near bottom of the list, due to successful years. Was surprised to see Burnley at bottom of the list, all down to fact Dyche was they manager for a decade, and started just before Ferguson retired.

Note, in some cases I had to make assumptions on who was actually a caretaker manager, based on length of stay. Some of those may actually have been full time managers but just got sacked ridiciulously quickly.
