I agree there's a lack of proven managers out there at the moment. LVG was way past his best when you got him though.

I personally don't rate Glasner that highly. He's done well at Palace but plays a back 3 and hasn't done it at a big club, which is a whole different level.

I would honestly give it to Ole for the rest of the season as he's proven he can be a good short term manager, get the positive feelings back and plays a very solid 4231 which suits most of the team. I would then get Poch in because he's someone that has experience in England and did well at Spurs and at Chelsea given the circumstances. He's also had the pressure of managing a top team in PSG and won things. He's made some poor career moves but he ticks all the boxes for a long term Utd manager in my eyes.

For once, we agree!

The suggestion of Glasner leaves me absolutely stone cold. Quite aside from the fact he plays three at the back, this being the underlying issue leading to Amorim’s demise, he has absolutely no charisma at all. I want a manager with something about him - someone with a bit of a twinkle in his eye, a bit of a mischievous character. It’s the package. Glasner plays a system which has not worked at United, and has no redeeming personal qualities which might make me a little more tolerant of any failings.

That is why I have felt so flat today. At long last United had a character at the helm. I liked Amorim. His interviews and press conferences were engaging. He had something about him, a spark which so many have lacked. There were shortcomings for sure, but the match going fans largely loved the guy. I just can’t see Glasner igniting the same degree of support.

And that brings me to a long term plan. I’ve thought about it a lot today whilst on my travels. There really aren’t that many options out there. And whilst Poch leaves me feeling rather underwhelmed in a lot of respects, he does tick some boxes, and he has character.

So I agree with you. Make a note of the date. Because it may be a while before it happens again.

😉

Ole’s (back) at the wheel apparently.

Nice chap but a limited manager. I guess we’re looking for a short term bounce, get the feel good back and then try for a permanent solution in the summer.

Can’t help but feel this is a never ending cycle now and will only end when the present ownership (politely) go away.
Ole at the wheel

Never forget Rio Ferdinand’s - Utd are back , get a contract signed

And then

😁

Thoughts on this one appreciated Don B. Spent a week away with a Forest fan and she sent me this.

What Aztecs said in response is spot onto be honest Tash. I don’t have much more to add!

Re McAtee I definitely think there’s a good player there. I thought he was going to be successor to MGW as and when he moves on. He hasn’t had loads of chances, but the ones he has had he sadly hasn’t made the best of.

To me he looks a bit lightweight - gets knocked off the ball far too easily. Maybe he suits a possession based system far more and we just aren’t that.

I think Glasner is going to surprise a few

When he has gone into clubs he has improved them and is flexible

His three at the back is a little different to what Amorim was playing and very fluid

Think he would be a good appointment

If Slot was too go then wouldn’t be disappointed with him

Cote d'Ivoire has a lively talent playing up front for them....some bloke called Amad Diallo....been involved in everything....could be a good signing for someone this window.

"Ice Cold blood in his veins" the commentators have just described Diallo having, as he scores a very composed goal.

I certainly wouldn’t rule him out, Phil.

The problem a lot of United fans now have is that we have become so used to the dross served up by the players, that we have started to latch onto managers who engage with those at matches, and I just don’t see that in Glasner.

Daft as this sounds, one of the best atmospheres I have encountered in years was during RVN’s brief tenure. The mere sight of someone of his standing on the touchline made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

We struggle to create legends on the pitch these days. So the manager is the next best thing!

The problem is, things are different compared to last time Ole came in.

When Mourinho was at club, he had lost much of the dressing room and the fans. Ole was a fresh face, there to unleash the shackles. Allow players to attack, attack, attack.

In this case, yes the football has been poor. But Amorim still seemed to have most of the dressing room and fans behind him. We also saw many of Ole's flaws over time, last time he was at the wheel.

Not as confident we'd get the same instant leap

We should be on the phone to Edu now, 'Beto and Barry are available, sure they will fit in. We will even cover the taxi for both of them across to Nottingham'.

As a City fan, what do you think about McAtee not getting a game? He looked good last year, I would have liked him at Everton based on those performances. He's barely had a sniff this season.
Re McAtee, am absolutely gobsmacked he has not had more game time. I do stand corrected on the next bit coz am not 100% sure it’s true, but someone mentioned to me that Mcatee and Anderson were the mainstay of England U 21’s and were excellent together. Chuck in MGW and that’s a massive midfield. I just don’t get it. But you are talking about Dyche trying to get a Team playing good football, something he has never done on a regular basis.

AFCON commentary and punditry is interesting to say the least. You dont get gems like...

"when Elephants fight it is the ground that suffers"

on MOTD.
I was in Tunisia watching them play against Mali. The Tunisians in the hotel were hopeful for a win. The penalties were like watching England over the years gone by. The football was not good to watch, however the left winger for Mali looked very skilful.
If memory serves me right, Mali are In The last eight and have drawn all four games, winning the last on penalties.

Bit unfair on Dyche Tash, you do realise Forest have had 3 managers since McAtee joined them, Nuno played him, Ange dropped him and Dyche has him back in the squad, Dyche has used him more times than the other 2 and he’s only made 7 appearances in total up to today.

To be honest, part of what I said is a feeling from some of the Forest fans I know. There was high hopes for him when he went and I think there’s a feeling of frustration he has not played more.
That said, sometimes you have to feel for the players. As a player, how do you play to your best when you have to play under Nuno, Ange and Dyche in a short period of time when they all have different styles of play. Surely it takes time to adjust.
A massive win for the tricky trees tonight..
