I agree there's a lack of proven managers out there at the moment. LVG was way past his best when you got him though.
I personally don't rate Glasner that highly. He's done well at Palace but plays a back 3 and hasn't done it at a big club, which is a whole different level.
I would honestly give it to Ole for the rest of the season as he's proven he can be a good short term manager, get the positive feelings back and plays a very solid 4231 which suits most of the team. I would then get Poch in because he's someone that has experience in England and did well at Spurs and at Chelsea given the circumstances. He's also had the pressure of managing a top team in PSG and won things. He's made some poor career moves but he ticks all the boxes for a long term Utd manager in my eyes.
For once, we agree!
The suggestion of Glasner leaves me absolutely stone cold. Quite aside from the fact he plays three at the back, this being the underlying issue leading to Amorim’s demise, he has absolutely no charisma at all. I want a manager with something about him - someone with a bit of a twinkle in his eye, a bit of a mischievous character. It’s the package. Glasner plays a system which has not worked at United, and has no redeeming personal qualities which might make me a little more tolerant of any failings.
That is why I have felt so flat today. At long last United had a character at the helm. I liked Amorim. His interviews and press conferences were engaging. He had something about him, a spark which so many have lacked. There were shortcomings for sure, but the match going fans largely loved the guy. I just can’t see Glasner igniting the same degree of support.
And that brings me to a long term plan. I’ve thought about it a lot today whilst on my travels. There really aren’t that many options out there. And whilst Poch leaves me feeling rather underwhelmed in a lot of respects, he does tick some boxes, and he has character.
So I agree with you. Make a note of the date. Because it may be a while before it happens again.
