And Liverpool of course Arthur. ;)

I get the dislike of Marinakis by other fans. He's the classic pantomime villain!

I would be willing to bet that a large percentage of people who profess their dislike of him would absolutely love him at their club. And by the same token, I would be willing to admit that I would probably hate him if he wasn't Forest's owner!

But my goodness the man is not afraid to stand up for what he believes in, nor to put his money where his mouth is.

I would have taken him over our previous owners 😁

Wonder if Chelsea or Man Utd fans would take him

I'm not sure I'd agree with that. As an outsider looking in, it seems like you've just had your best season for a long, long time, but now the manager has departed 3 games later because his relationship with the chairman has disintegrated. I would find that frustrating as a fan.

I don't. Nothing against Forest but if he does well with them, all we'll hear is how stupid Spurs were to sack the guy who brought them a trophy - ignoring how completely abhorrent the league performance was. I hope (and believe) the same thing will happen again - he'll get quickly found out, player injuries will stack up with his completely unsustainable tactics, and he'll be proven out of his depth in a top league once again. I wouldn't have minded him getting one more year with us (but I'm much happier with Frank), but he would have had to learn some lessons and drastically alter his style - Forest fans need to hope he has learned those lessons.
That's all we can do.

The way I look at it is, he's not a stupid man. Seems very switched on and has enough of a footballing brain to have succeeded and won wherever he's been (including serial bottlers Spurs ;) )....The optimist in me hopes that he's had a few months to reflect on his failings and knows what he needs to do to succeed going forward in the Premier League.

We've certainly got the right player profiles for his style of football - and hopefully our medical staff (who have been changed since Cooper's days) can keep the squad healthy under Ange's intense brand of football. If he can find a balance between his full pelt attacking and our previous defensive foundations, we could be very successful.

What I'm not going to do is write the bloke off until he's been given a chance just because he failed at Spurs (and still won a trophy)...MOST managers fail at Spurs, so it's a terrible barometer. It's not a unique situation where a manager has been terrible at one club, goes to another club with a different squad and different environment and has success...so no reason it *can't* happen....just remains to be seen that it will or not.

Of course you're going to try and look at the positives rather than write him off. I was trying to do the same before we sacked him. He just needs to realise that trying to sprint for 90 minutes per game, playing direct football in possession, high pressure and counter attack out of possession, is completely unsustainable. The only players who weren't injured by the end were the 18 and 19 year-olds.

Bit in bold though - there's a bit of a difference between the standard level of 'failure' which, in essence for us, was not delivering European football places - and his level which was actually dicing with relegation. Not something we ever expected to be anywhere near. It was only the existence of three worse teams that stopped him being the most spectacular failure ever. People often ask hypotheticals like "would you take winning a trophy and finishing 17th" etc, not expecting it to ever actually happen. He turned out club into a meme.

Of course, the last time you picked up one of our supposed failures it worked out very well. :)

Not quite how things happened though (i.e. I don't think Marinakis can be directly blamed just because he hired Edu to help progress the club). Nuno decided he didn't like Edu and the players he was targeting (instead of picking up players who were happy to play as back up) and decided to throw his toys out of the pram publicly. Despite the club investing in the squad heavily in the summer (any manager would give their left nut for the backing Marinakis gave Nuno in the summer).

Once he did that, there was no going back, unfortunately. As I said before, he did similar at Wolves...and if he didn't want to be here and would continuously drag the behind the scenes drama into the public eye, then it would have been at a detriment to the team. It seems very obvious he didn't use Luiz or Hutchinson (other than the last 3 minutes) at West Ham as a big F U to Edu (both were Edu approved signings that Nuno didn't want)...that's self-sabotage.

that's not to say Nuno is completely at fault. There's absolutely fault from both sides. But you won't find many (any) Forest fans who completely back Nuno because they know the investment (which EVERYONE knew was needed to drastically improve the squad depth) that he was given in the Summer. We've upgraded our depth at pretty much EVERY SINGLE position in one window AND kept our best players from the core squad.

I Love Nuno and will never be able to thank him enough for last season, in particular. But Marinakis won't accept anything but the same ambition as he has. If you're not on board, then you're left behind. As a fan of the club that's seen the worst of the worst in the last 30 years, I can't not get behind that.

Regarding the league position last season - I read an article the other day - and whether it's true or not, it said that he made a conscious decision to essentially mail it in for the league and go all in on winning the Europa League (which wasn't a favourable decision within the club)...to try and protect the "best" players for the knockouts. There's probably some truth to it, but some arse-covering to give a valid excuse for why it went so badly in the league.

Kind of makes sense if it is true....and I respect the gamble.

That said, if you gave me a Europa League and squeaky bum 17th, I'd bite your hand off for it.

Yeah I'm sure he was doing that - he had to back up his statement that he 'always wins in his second season' after all. But he was forced into it because of the injury crisis, which as I explained, was of his own making. It wasn't like we had a tiny squad and weren't used to competing in different competitions. He'd run them into the ground. He shouldn't have had to essentially forfeit every league game.

Aztecs has summed up the situation very well.

BIB. There's the issue. A lot of outsiders looking in don't see beyond the media narrative. Either because they just don't look into it properly, or because they don't want to. I’m not saying we’re unique in that by the way. Happens to every club to one degree or another.

If you’re an outsider wanting a view on the truth or otherwise of any situation, the general feeling of the fanbase is usually the most accurate one.

Poch has only been there a day and already the right back is out for 3 months 😂
To be fair it was on international duty so not sure he can be blamed for that one

Pantomime villain is about right. I don’t like some of his antics but can’t argue with what he’s done at Forest. Great to see them up there ruffling a few feathers, and long may it continue.

As for having him at the Boro… no, I’m more than happy with Steve Gibson. He puts a fortune into the club every season.

Very much looking forward to a trip to the new Everton ground tomorrow!

Fingers crossed Villa score a goal... I wont ask for 3 points too, lets just start scoring first!!

Up the Villaaaaaaa

Also, finally listening to Ange's press conference in full and he really is a top class bloke.

Hopefully he backs it up on the pitch and doesn't ruin the squad's hammys 😬 😆

So you want him to fail at Forest just so that Spurs don't look stupid for getting rid of him?
