Ugarte is strong in the tackle but has absolutely no awareness of what’s around him. The number of times he concedes possession with poor passes, or is bundled off the ball by a player he hasn’t seen coming, is quite frightening. And Bruno switches off way too often. That’s the problem with this system - we can’t carry one midfielder like that, never mind two.

Something has clearly happened with Mainoo. The manager clearly doesn’t like him, to the point where he seems a squad player at best. If a decent offer came in it wouldn’t surprise me to see him go.

Oh, for a player like N’Golo Kante. Someone 75% as good as him would make such a difference.

All the good stuff going forward came from link up play between Cunha and Mount and also long balls into Cunha

Fernandes is an issue if playing in a two midfield

And Mainoo should be playing week in week out so not sure what’s happening

The photos you see are mainly from one side looking to the river.
On the land side there are still some very old buildings housing a variety of small buisnesses on the Dock road including a PXG fitting centre in Flights golf.
This was a concern about accessibility to the ground and if these buisnesses would have to shut down on match days.

Re accessibility, just how many grounds don’t have poor access? I’ve just had a Quick Look on Google Earth, and I reckon most grounds have poor access. Several clubs are almost surrounded by ye olde street houses. Some have rivers or railways down one side. Parking has always been a major issue. Public transport gets swamped

Short of moving grounds away from their old home to the outskirts, there’ll always be access issues. 50,000+ fans all coming away at the same time… I can’t think of a single ground I’ve been to where it hasn’t taken at least 30mins to do the first mile.

You're correct in what you say. However at Everton the accessibility issues have only now been started to be addressed. After the stadium has been built! Alterations to Sandhills station just completed, I mean it's not as though the project was put up in a week.
Bad planning all round

Yes that’s true and I agree but most were built a long time ago.

But if you’re building a brand new stadium from scratch I wouldn’t pick somewhere with a river on one side and some very busy streets on the other.
Just my opinion,

The land was obviously cheap, the council saw it as a great opportunity for regeneration in that area.

They put blinkers on in terms of moving the fans out after a game though. The problems were obvious but reading the documents in planning and during building they pretty much waved their hands at it in a 'don't worry, it will all be fine in the end' manner. Clearly it isn't and now they are trying to play catch up.

My cousin drives buses in Liverpool and he drove fans at one of the test events. Going in was fine as fans arrive at different times. Leaving was a total mess though, and that was only half a stadium. He just rolled his eyes at it.

The solution should have been part of the planning and build but sadly it wasn't.

Well, you'd hope not. But the new Arsenal stadium is surrounded by narrow residential streets and a railway line. Local transport is disrupted on every match day, and quality of life severely impacted for local residents (I know a couple pretty well).
It's a dilemma, as stadiums on green fields or industrial estates have their own issues.

Your opinion is very valid, and comes with local knowledge.

Middlesbrough moved from the old Ayresome Park in ‘95. Access to the ‘new’ is way better, even with it being next to the Tees, and the facilities are light years ahead but I don’t like it. I don’t like that it’s virtually out of town. Distance from the town centre, it might even be closer but it doesn’t feel like it’s in Middlesbrough. Heaven forbid they actually sort out a new railway station right next to the ground… the railway runs across one end and the river the other. A small pedestrian underpass - don’t ask…

I suppose the question to ask is which grounds have got it right and why can’t that be copied.

Not this country but I went to see the New York Mets baseball team play a few years ago when I was in New York, surprisingly enough 😄. They had a huge car park, leading straight on to a dual carriageway. They were also on the metro line, or whatever it is called. When the game finished I walked straight onto the train, loads of carriages, they may have put extra trains on, not sure. Basically, seamless and how it should be done.

If you want to know how to get thousands of people in and out of large venues, go to America. Some of it is land mass but a lot of it is just plain good planning and then organisation. They are consistently good at it.

In Germany news they went to see him before going back to England and the dad bumped into the manager. It doesn’t read like they stormed in with the purpose to talk to the coach or manager.

I think they're both competing for the No.8 role, but it seems that Bruno has to play 90 minutes every game!
He's not playing well at the moment so Mainoo should be given his chance.
If the Saudi rumours are true, I'd sell Bruno and reinvest the money into a decent No.6.
I feel that Mainoo is being seen as Bruno's understudy, I also think that Mainoo is definitely the future.
Bruno is a natural No.10 .................................... we've just bought two of those.
Is Bruno now surplus to requirements?

I think he is surplus and overrated. He’s a very good player don’t get me wrong but he doesn’t fit into a MF 2 and ultimately this new style of play Utd are playing he doesn’t outwork or outshine Cunha or Mbeumo who are playing that role.

Utd need to give Mainoo a chance and get a new 6 as Ugarte isn’t the one. I’d be selling Bruno and investing that into a new player or 2.

Was it this summer the Saudi bid ?

Did the club turn it down or did Fernandes turn the move down ?

Think a midfield of Mainoo plus a Rodri will be better but with Amorin playing 3 at the back where does a 10 fit in ?

Amorim’s systems he’s already playing 2 10s in Cunha and Mbuemo. The idea being they one slot in at 10 when the other pulls wide allowing the opposite wing back to provide width across the pitch to overload as well so in essence it’s meant to be more fluid. There is evidence in their attacking play this seasons so far it’s working as they look good going forward but chance creation is down as Bruno keeps trying to drift in to that same 10 slot and dictate play where he just isn’t needed anymore.

They’d be better off dropping him, playing Mainoo as an 8 and getting better 6 in the team suddenly they’d have offensive and defensive balance. Just my opinion of course.

You have clearly seen a lot more of Mainoo than I have but based upon what I have seen I think it would be a massive mistake for him to replace Fernandes at this time.

He strikes me as very limited and without the ability of Fernandes. The media reaction to him when he first came through seemed to be compensation for Man U missing out on Jude Bellingham.

The suggestion is the player turned it down
