As a Leeds fan, yes, I'm more than familiar with the Championship! And yes, Tanaka was brilliant all last season too.
It took him a couple of games to get used to the speed of it after being in Germany but he adapted well.
I was a bit concerned that he might struggle with the physicality in the Prem but he seemed to cope ok last night.
Re the penalty, I was at the game and in real time it looked as if Tarkowski dived to save it. It definitely looked a deliberate attempt to stop the shot.
VAR was definitely involved too. It took them a couple of minutes to confirm the decision.
Hi Paul, I'm an Everton fan but I don't, on the whole, wear blue goggles. I don't think Tarkowski deliberately handled it, his arm really was tucked away, but there's no doubt it hit his arm full on and it was going on target. I'd want it as a penalty for my team, I'm not going to argue against the decision last night. We didn't lose points because of that decision, it was more than that.

You had some excellent performers last night, not just Tanaka, but like a lot of teams, I didn't see a likely striker. You have midfielders who will pop up with some, will they give you enough? Based on last night, first half in particular, you won't get rolled over like Southampton last year. You definitely have more than that. A good first outing of the season, stuff to work on.

I think Tarkowski was trying to use his chest to block the shot and misjudged it after the deflection. Probably a little unlucky but he had moved quite a few yards across goal to get there which made it look worse.
You're right about the lack of an obvious striker. Piroe scored 19 last season and is a very good finisher but his hold-up play isn't the best when he's a lone striker.
The summer transfers so far have been about improving the defence & midfield first and then the forward options.
We've got Calvert-Lewin from you but he's only just signed and isn't anything like match fit.
There are plans to get more attacking options in before the window shuts but it's hard to attract players who think they're going to be in a relegation fight all season.

Didn't think we had any Leeds fans on here, hope you make some regular contributions - it's nice to have more clubs represented on here. What are your thoughts for this season? Do you think you'll stay up? Will Farke last?

Off the top of my head, we have one or more fans of most teams in the PL making regular or semi-regular contributions on this thread, but none from the following that I can think of: Fulham, Chelsea, Arsenal, Bournemouth, Brentford and Burnley. So if there are any lurkers who are fans of any of those teams, come on and join the fray! 🤣

Which is exactly what I said at the time, and why I always maintain Ronaldo was not a player Solskjaer wanted. It made no sense at all, given the lengthy pursuit of Sancho, and the emergence of Greenwood.

When Ronaldo looked like he was going to City you hit panic stations and went for him. A top manager would've handled him better and set the team up differently though. Ole was just a one trick pony with his 4231 and pace up front. To put Ronaldo up top and not change the system was what got him sacked in the end. Ronaldo ended up with 24 goals that season which says a lot about him and how it could've worked out differently.

Probably a reflection of Man Utd's reactive rather than proactive transfer activity of the era.

We've had Homer for Fulham who's now gone, Fundy & Sawtooth used to post about Arsenal but they've toddled off now as well. Pin-seeker is Chelsea I believe but he prefers to mug off Liverpool rather than talk about his own team, which is fair enough.

Blimey I never knew Pin-seeker was Chelsea!

Yes, I've been going since the early 80s, so I've seen a few highs and lows over the years.:ROFLMAO:
Will we stay up? Who knows? There's such a big jump from the Championship to the Premier League that it seems to be more difficult every year for promoted teams to compete. We're shopping in the £10-20m bracket for first team players whereas established teams can spend £30-40m on squad players.
It's also difficult to attract players who think they're going to be in a relegation battle all season. Although, if they haven't got the fight to handle that, do we really want them?
I think Farke will be ok. He never had any financial backing on either occasion he was promoted with Norwich and that's what ultimately cost them.
The thing that might cost him his job is that the owners, 49ers Enterprises, might want to protect their investment if things start to go wrong.

Funnily enough Reading seem to be well represented on here.

Myself, richart, Ethan and now another much welcome additon in Lucifer MorningStar.

Unfortunately no one gives a toss about League One so I end up talking to myself in the EFL thread these days 😅

The Mighty (ish) Millers get a mention on there 😎

Not much to chat about sadly, we've lost our first 3 in a row. Lewis Wing did score another worldie which is worth a view.

The main issues are losing 3 key players and while the replacements look decent, we've missed two of them due to injury (O'Connor and Paddy Lane). Another issue is not having a striker and the manager struggling selection and tactics wise. I think he could well be gone within a few weeks so can't see us getting anything at Bolton tomorrow and Wycome away will be very tricky as it's their cup final.

Up the Royals 😊
I’m actually surprised how well represented we are on here but always good to meet fellow fans.

I posted in the EFL thread a couple of times it is definitely an echo chamber 😂

See if we can get many guys off here to watch us v Bolton tomorrow on Sky Sports. I’m really not optimistic about the game can see us going 4 straight defeats, ironically we’re. It far off it but as you say we definitely need a striker and our manager needs to figure out his best tactics soon before we start plummeting and he gets his P45.

@AddisonRoad is a Bolton fan

Don’t know if anyone is watching the Rangers CL qualifier on Amazon, but my god, they look awful. I can see why they have had a poor start to the season.

Russell Martin may be gone by 9.45pm at this rate, never mind Christmas.
