Reading on a few City pages re City are confident of winning re the charges. 2 or 3 I would agree with but 115. That said I find it interesting that FFP is changing 😳 why?
The PL should just pluck one or two of the obvious ones City can’t get out of.
Sort them out then sort the rest out at a later date.

The optics don’t look good imo.
City getting away with it ,Everton and Forest just cannon fodder!

What you suggest is spot on. This happens in the real world when someone is accused of multiple offences. Pick out the strongest ones, prosecute those. If you lose those, you have saved a lot of time. If you win them, bring forward the less obvious ones. The number of offences actually seems to be working in City's favour right now, which is crackers.

Yeah but City are winning in Europe and helping to promote the PL worldwide.

I do not agree with FFP, what was designed to help save clubs from themselves by over spending has become something that helps stop the status quo at the top of the table being disrupted but, if it is there and is going to be enforced then it needs to be applied evenly. I also think that, as they are going through the books forensically, there should only be one points deduction per season and I do not think it fair that they are having a second bite of the cherry with Everton.

I could put this in the random irritations thread but it is football related so........The football rumours page on the BBC sport website is usually good fun to read. Today they announced that Newcastle have pulled out of the Kalvin Philips loan due to the upfront payment requested by City, Newcastle having their own FFP issues right now. Other interested parties ready to step in include Everton. Really. With our balance sheet right now. We can't afford him, why would he come? I mean, does anyone ready what they post on there?

Does that rumour thread not just post what's in the newspaper? I remember one transfer window a fanzine collated all the players my club was linked with during the window, 96 in total.

It probably does, but even so, surely someone should read them and cut out the total nonsense. It should attempt to have some credibility.

Out of the 96, did you get any?

The gossip page is just that...gossip...generally utter rubbish just copied from 3rd party sites who probably got the story from click bait sites of little journalistic integrity.

The NUFC.COM website has a go at collating all rumours about transfers from various media outlets...

In January alone we are allegedly letting Isaac Hayden go to one (or all?) of...Sheffield Utd, Luton, Birmingham, Blackburn, Plymouth, Sheffield Weds....that latter 4 all reported by the same media outlet on the same day.

Generally dont believe any of it until the player actually kicks a ball for us.

Regarding FFP as a Forest fan:

Our defence is that we held out getting More money for Brennan Johnson (which we ended up doing) - hence why the money from his sale wasn't in last years accounts.

that being said, we missed being within the acceptable losses by a hairs breadth apparently....which is all well and good, but without buying the likes of;

Hwang Ui-Jo
Josh Bowler
Omar Richards
Guilian Biancone

All of whom have played 0 minutes for Forest (with the exception of Biancone who played about 70 mins before he got injured), we'd have been absolutely fine.

And that doesn't even account for the god awful deals for Jonjo Shelvey and Chris Wood - the latter has come good of late, but still two very expensive mistakes - or deals that could have been structured to keep us within the limits.

The ex Director/Chairman Nicholas Randall barefaced lied to the entire fanbase when he said in a Q and A that we were and always will be within FFP. He can go get in the sea.

And the owner, as ambitious as he likes to be has completely lost control of the transfer and recruitment strategy and allowed it to happen.

do I agree the rules are fit for purpose? Absolutely not. But we should (and could) have abided by them. Corrupt league or not, this is completely on the club and I'm livid.

There is only one true source of accurate transfer news....

Seems a very fair and balanced view to me Jon, the timing of the Johnson sale and the outcome of your case going to dictate whether there are fire sales in June going forward for plenty of clubs you'd think. Btw i think youve no argument here in that Johnson played for you after the deadline so to allow this to be brought forward would contradict all known accounting rules

Sadly for you and Everton fans pretty sure youre both being found guilty as the premier league continue to pretend they are in charge and dont need an independent regulator whilst other shall we say higher profile sides continue to slide between the cracks.....

Going forward it feels like there needs to be a template set of accounts prepared in identical fashion for all 20 clubs so they can be properly compared on a like for like basis but thats far far too transparent for those with control/power sadly

I'm reading that a 6 point deduction would be a "worst case scenario" for us given the amount of time we were over the threshold and the intentions we had to balance the books - seems fair, and hopefully the team uses it as fuel to galvanise and try to grind out some results to put a decent block of points on the board to ensure safety regardless of any deductions that might take place.

NUFC must be losing patience with Howe. Could Jose be the answer?

Would love to know how much he has made in pay-offs. Must be a hefty figure.
Is Eddie Howe really a problem that Newcastle need to solve?

This was discussed previously, but surely Newcastle have had an significantly high number of key player missing. When I've watched them, they've generally not looked clueless or uninterested. They just look burnt out a lot of the time.

Do they need to simply continue to build up their squad? Do they need a new manager whose training results in less injuries, or a manager that plays better football? Or have they just been very unlucky in the amount of injuries, and they players who've been injured?

Jose is a risky manager to get in these days. Good early career, but not so sure about his CV over last 5 or 6 years? He can make headlines about himself, although it might deflect from players, can still be irritating for the Club and fans. Especially if he isn't being overly successful at the time.
