Moving away from Dalot. It was truly pantomime season at the Brentford game yesterday. Absolutely pathetic from Martinez and Maupay. So pathetic, it was actually hilarious to watch.

Also noticed an incident was sparked when Watkins scored and gestured to someone in the crowd. I thought purposely winding the crowd up was usually considered an automatic yellow, for the very reason to avoid sparking angry scenes?

In all honesty, the referee got the decision wrong, it happens.
Dalot should of been booked and thats it, move on and carry on with the game.
To send him off is extremely harsh and you are guaranteed their will be no consistency with this.

Have you borrowed LP's red tinted glasses? There was nothing dubious about the foul. Nunez didn't even bother looking at the ball. Had his eyes firmly on Evans and shoulder barged him over. I'm not saying that it was a yellow card challenge, although wouldn't have been surprised to see a card for it, but was definitely a foul.

In most instance I’d agree. The only thing we don’t know, which in my mind would justify the sending off, is if Dalot finished his rant with a direct insult which questions the ref’s integrity. For example, “you’re a cheat/homer…” something along those lines. Thankfully, for the game as a whole, there was less than 10 mins play left.

I agree with Stu, what happened to refs having a quiet word? Call the player and his captain over, as happens in rugby, and tell them that the player is close to a sending off.

Maupay is a giant baby whos great at a wind up, not fussed about any of the actions of the players tbh. Games get heated sometimes, it is what it is!

On a seperate note refs dont interact with players no more. Rarely do you see refs explaining their decisions.

I think that does happen, I see refs talking to players. Always hard if a player is just ranting but I do see conversations happening. That is an accusation that has been around forever, if every era.

Vardy always managed to escape a yellow for very similar celebrations to be far, but I don't think you are far wrong! However, as we all know, refs are anything but consistent across the league. Another may have booked him!

I also notice Harry Kane scores another 2 goals for Bayern, reaching 20 goals in 14 league games. At this rate, he'll be in touching distance of 50 league goals by the end of the season.

And another goal for Bellingham. If he keeps scoring at the same rate, he'll be in touching distance of 40 league goals. Not bad for a central midfielder.

Bellingham is a phenomenal player. He definitely isn’t a central midfield for Real though, not in the conventional sense. He normally sets up in a very attacking position though he has licence to roam.

Real don’t have a top quality recognised CF anymore so it’s a fluid front line. Bellingham can join that as a make shift striker at times. But yes. He basically can do everything. I’ve no idea if his current effort is sustainable but it’s a glorious watch while he’s on it.

I will never understand why some supporters of a team seem completely unwilling to accept the wrongs of their team.

Nunez turned and looked at Evans and made sure to put his arm straight into Evans’ chest. He made no attempt for the ball. My thoughts are that it was probably some payback for something that happened off camera at a corner or something, but there’s no defending what Nunez did. He set out to hurt Evans and should probably have been sent off.

Yes, they were, and they should. But nobody was hoping referees would allow blatant fouls to be allowed.

There‘s not a ref in the Prem I’d put forward for CL and international matches. As for the Horlicks they’ve made of VAR, it’s frustrating enough watching from a warm armchair. 3-4 minutes in the stands must be excruciating.

The issue before was players threw themselves to the ground after the slightest contact. The changes in how the referees dealt with that was to let play go on, under the assumption the player could easily have stayed on their feet, instead of trying to "buy" a free kick. I'm all for that, players should be able to stand their ground better.

Jonny Evans was not buying a free kick yesterday. It was a clear foul by Nunez.

There'll obviously be incidents in between both situations above, where subjectivity will always play a part. The frustrating thing for fans will be that individual referees will have different tolerance levels, but at the same time the same referee will have different tolerance levels at different moments in a game. I agree that the standard of refereeing is disappointing at times. It'll never meet perfection, but it would be nice to move closer to that, albeit we'll always be a million miles away.
