I'm still not sure why we don't have the offside tech that we saw at the World Cup? It seemed to work well and it also produced those nice graphical renderings of the players that actually which part of them was offside.

Corruption?

There can be no other reason to not add more tech to improve

Every time I feel like I've calmed down about terrible ref's being backed up by terrible refs they do something stupid again. It also seems like they never make one bad big call in a game - there are always 2 or 3.

let's be clear, both Liverpool reds are reds. Jones is unlucky, I feel. But I can accept that given the angle his foot catches the spurs player it was always likely. Jota was an absolute idiot for the 2nd yellow. He was always going to go for that. Always. The first yellow is a howler from the ref, but once that's happened the 2nd has to happen. In exactly the same way we massively got away with one with Trent against Newcastle. I have no idea what happened with the Diaz goal. Nobody does, or will. But it's a shocker and puts us 1 up. it's massive and has huge consequences. But it happens and you have to deal with it, whether it should or not is (sadly) a different matter.

I'm not sure I've ever been so positive coming away from a loss. 10 men for 70 mins ish, 9 for 20 and were, on the whole, pretty good. We were still a threat, even with 9 men and IMO Spurs had an absolute mare and got lucky. If my team were playing 9 men and the manager took off our best striker and captain, rather than going (at least!) 2 up top and going for it, I'd be seething.

PGMOL have released statement stating that from Monday 2 nd of October Stevie Wonder will be in charge of drawing the lines in possible offside situations, this will be a massive improvement on future games

I am fed up with hearing how amazing Brighton are, apparently they are going to be able to buy cheap and sell high forever and find these amazing youngsters forever and have the best manager ever. Maybe some realistic expectations going to come from everyone now.
There are many that will genuinely cry out that Lewis Dunk should represent their country, and will blissfully ignore displays such as yesterday, or fact Brighton haven't kept a clean sheet in ages. Yet if Utd or England concede 1 goal with Maguire in the side, it is Maguire's fault and should be nowhere near the team :)

VAR really has hit rock bottom. That was the very thing it was brought in to check. Everything went as they intended. Lino didn't put flag up until after play had stopped - thereby not influencing play. That in itself at times has been really ridiculous but this time could/would have justified why it happens.

It beggars belief the almighty cock up after that. Surely some sort of computer or AI bot would be better than the error strewn humans they have on the job...

It’s not VAR. It’s referees and refereeing. What VAR is doing is making the lack of quality and inconsistencies of referees much more visible. They’ve made themselves much more accountable.

Football is broken.

Stop the league. It’s a write off.

I’m not even joking. The top of the table is broken. They need to fix it and fans of all teams should call this out. This isn’t red v blue any more. Football has crashed and needs turned off and on again.

There have been unjust decisions in football since god was a boy, it's part of the game, it generates interest and also allows outcomes to be influenced. Nobody is going to make it go away, when it drives so much interest in the game. If you're on the wrong end of it, tough - these things tend to balance themselves out over time anyway.

How do you separate VAR from referees though? It's meant to correct their errors not compound them.

You don’t, thats my point. If they stopped using VAR the referees would still make the same mistakes and inconsistencies.

The assertion that it only corrects refereeing errors is wrong. It exists to officiate the laws of the game correctly - at which it has failed.

If it’s making referees accountable then they need held to account! It’s not happening, football has crashed etc.

Just outta interes.Maguire players yesterday. His stats look decent. However UTD lost. How did he actually do.

I was vocal against the introduction of VAR. My main point was always that the standard of referees we have arent good/consistent enough. Giving them technology to use would only further expose them.

Irrespective of last nights game, the standard of refereeing in football is on its backside and its ruining our game.

Just because every team has suffered at some point, it doesnt make it acceptable.

Let us listen to the conversations.

Make the referees accountable.

Precisely. I’ve supported the introduction of VAR, it’s not working, I was wrong.

Something needs to change.

The bit in bold isn't correct unless I've misunderstood. VAR only looks at four aspects: goal/no goal; pen/no pen; red card offences; mistaken identity?
