I was vocal against the introduction of VAR. My main point was always that the standard of referees we have arent good/consistent enough. Giving them technology to use would only further expose them.

Irrespective of last nights game, the standard of refereeing in football is on its backside and its ruining our game.

Just because every team has suffered at some point, it doesnt make it acceptable.

Let us listen to the conversations.

Make the referees accountable.
I think referees and lino's now rely on VAR to pick things up, so they themselves have become dependant on the technology and lazy in their thoughts and actions.

If we get rid of the current lot of refs, who come in to replace them? The lot from the championship? Brought in from abroad?

Does anyone really think they are better? Complaints about refs happen the world over.

We have to improve the current refs, particularly the decision making for var (why they are getting it wrong I can not work out), but these are the elite folks, accept it 🤷‍♂️

Out of curiosity I’d like to know how many VAR decisions that were correct ‘v’ those that VAR got wrong. Maybe, although we’re seeing some clangers, they are making a positive difference but people a focusing on the clangers.

Referees are certainly micro managed to the nth degree. I disagree they're lazy, i think they're just following orders.

How didnt Wissa get a pen for that challenge today?

That's an interesting one. They give that information in cricket at the end of a test series and the ratio of correct decisions is remarkably impressive. This would be good information to give out.

How do you separate VAR from referees though? It's meant to correct their errors not compound them.
All he needed to do was stop the game .
give the goal and restart with a kick off.

Basically the VAR ref is still just a ref with more information.
He shoud not be getting that so wrong.

as for the communication there should be a set script so no confusion.
Thought the ref was shocking.

I want to know how long after play had restarted did the ref know the mistake had been made.

I heard 30 seconds.
But I’m in the USA we were watching live but thought they just didn’t show the lines over here.
We could tell just looking at it it wasn’t offside.

I find it very hard to belive their version of events.
How can professional referees get their wires crossed like that.
They should have a set script so no crossed wires.

Jottas first yellow was just a joke accidental contact with his knee, but the second was careless.

The bookings for Salah and Robbo stunk of corruption. Then Bissouma blatantly face plants Endo with his hand well after the ball had gone.

I know the refs have such a tough job to do and its impossible to get every decision right but quote a few of those yesterday were ludicrous.

Anyway, it's gone now. I'm looking forward to us being paid back as it evens itself out apparently:D:D

Disallowed goal and two harsh reds is going to take some paying back.
