Partly that, but the main reason I was asking was to see if the rules were being applied to all clubs equally or whether the powers that be were scared of the big clubs - as usual
Bruno at Newcastle was booked forbit, as was MacAllister at Liverpool. I don't know if others were but they are two sizeable teams. There were also plenty of managers and assistants booked for abuse. I'd say it was a pretty good weekend for the new standards and anyone continuing to be booked is pretty darned stupid (but this is football so obviously it will happen for a while longer yet  )

also a couple of players were booked (cant remember which match(es)) for preventing free kicks from being taken quickly. Didnt see a huge amount of players surrounding the ref in the games/highlights that I saw.
Why is it the gesture of waving a 'yellow' that people take issue with? If he doesn't wave his hand but still verbally tells the ref to book another player, does he still get booked for that? Or is it ok because the viewers don't know what he's saying?
Because I guess, its seen as a way of publicly questioning the referees authority. Players trying to pressurise the referee into doing making a decision.

Not sure how its going to go down on the continent in some of the latin countries, where they can be somewhat "emotional" about having their hair knocked out of place and wave their hands around like they're directing traffic.

Not a fan of the player who goes off injured can’t come back on for 30 secs if it’s clearly a genuine injury
Or you could argue that 30 seconds mandatory hold on that player returning to the field is to help them recover.
It might stop the feigning of injury that goes on in every game from all teams and more importantly the feigning of a head injury to just stop the game.
Something has to be done, so let’s give the FA some credit for trying to act on what every fan complains about.

The problem is the team that had a player with a genuine injury then has to play with 10 men for a period

I know it’s hard but hopefully it can be adjusted so the referee uses common sense - hard I know

I'm not in the weeds with the new rulings but if the player has a genuine injury wouldn't play be stopped and the injured player substituted immediately anyway?

With regards to an injured player having a 30 second wait to come back on the pitch (sometimes the player is off for longer), a rule I would like to be brought in would be that the player who caused the injury should be off the field of play for as long as the injured player is off .
I'm sure this would cut down on the sometimes silly tackles that players make.
But there's a down side to my proposal, the injured players medics could hold him off the field for longer if the offending player is off the field as well .and the offending player could be more instrumental to their team than the injured player .
Just thinking out loud .👍

I would have to question what genuine injury could be treated and the player be back on the pitch in under 30 seconds or is the rule tht the player is treated, signals that he is ready to return and then waits 30 seconds.

Im not judging on the new rulings quite yet.

In fairness time wasting and feigning injury are a problem. You have to give credit to them for trying to address it.

Hopefully it will work but best to try something and fail than not to try anything at all.

That won't happen imo.

All the ref has to do is get it wrong once and everyone will be up in arms.

It's a silly rule, but imo it's not one that can be left to interpretation.

All of a sudden teams start feigning injury every time Halaand breathes in their direction lol

Mings significant injury, that’ll be his season over. Gutted for him and for Villa! Two players lost for the season within a week 😂

Everton have signed Jack Harrison from Leeds, on loan for this year but with an option to sign at the end of the season. He is currently injured but nothing serious so we should have him in a month. Good player, good signing.

I still wouldn't object to us buying a striker though......

So the never ending Chelsea , Liverpool , Caicedo , Lavia saga maybe coming to an end

Chelsea I think have finally made a bid for £115mil for Caicedo

And Liverpool having a bid of £60mil accepted for Lavia

so the two teams that win are Brighton and Southampton who get a bit more for the players 🤷‍♂️

If a player is genuinely injured, where a physio is required to treat them, then there is going to a period where they are not fit enough to play on without that treatment. Therefore, asking them to stay off the pitch for at least 30 seconds once play has restarted is probably not a big ask. It gives an extra bit of time for the genuinely injured player to be treated and/or recover.

Yes, there is going to be an incident where a team conceded within 30 seconds of a restart and a manager complain that it wouldn't have happened if their player was allowed back on the pitch (player welfare no longer applicable, just get that injured player on the field asap). However, this is hopefully more than compensated by reducing the incidents where a player goes over "injured", gets treated and then when play restarts they are back bouncing on their feet and sprinting immediately.

It'll be interesting to see if players go down "injured" but refuse the physio when play stops, just to waste time. Perhaps not to wasted time if the referees continue adding on the time, but at least to break momentum of an attack by having play stopped. If that happens, hopefully the referee can insist that the physio comes on, meaning that player will miss the next 30 seconds.

Well played them both. Nice to see the wealth being spread around. Both clubs are sadly feeder clubs but at least they are being well paid for recent deals.

Very much this. Now clubs all have a decent level of funding coming in, it is great to see them stand up to clubs that have seen them as easy fishing grounds for player signings. Maybe they cannot stop players leaving but they can sure as hell make the bigger clubs pay.

What odds on Chelsea puttin an improved bid in to Southampton as well this afternoon.

At the weekend we saw a player get clattered , clearly an impact injury that was genuine , physio came on , applied a dressing , ensured it wasn’t too serious , players gets up and walks to the sidelines walking the bang off - then has to sit and wait and in that meantime a goal could be scored because that player is stood there waiting

Whilst there will always be those that milk an injury etc there are plenty impact injuries that players shake off quickly

But surely the action should be assess the player is OK to move, take them off to apply the dressing then bring them back on. Plus, that extra 30 seconds on the sideline gives a bit of extra time to to have a run and a few turns on the injuty to ensure all is fine. If a knock requires a physio, it requires checking properly.

I’ll be surprised if Chelsea do - it looked like they were struggling to get a bid together for Caicedo due to finances and potential FFP issues - they can’t also spread the costs over the length of the contract as well

It wouldn’t surprise me if the bid for Lavia was purely as back incase there was issues with Caicedo

They applied the dressing there whilst on the ground and make the assessment there

3 instances I saw at the weekend the player ran it off going to the sidelines

as i said it’s only going to take one goal to happen during that period for it to kick off and it’s not the fault of the player or the team yet the team that caused the injury benefitted
