Indeed, but Utd are not buying Evans to be a 1st choice centre back. It appears he will be a short term back up. Maybe even a back up of a back up of a back up.Its just a very backwards move.

Id be after a proper top CB as a third option if I supported United.
Bad business would be buying a player who may well not play. Any decent player may well not be interested as they won't play. It also doesn't matter if it is Man Utd, as it appears Utd are currently on tight margins due to FPP. If they spend any more money, it needs to be done wisely. On a striker (hopefully). Spending 5, 10, 20, million on a defender just eats into any budget they have left.
Also, it may not be far of the truth that it is another sign Utd are looking to offload Maguire, but it is still uncertain, so they are looking for a player to bridge the gap.
