Forest Green have just made their Academy coach the caretaker manager after Big Dunc left.
So what, you may think? She is the first female to take charge of a football league team. I hope FGR make her full time and it opens doors for more women to climb the managerial ladder.

Seems like this was a bit of a publicity stunt, she has been replaced after just two friendlys. What a shame she never got a fair go at it.

I think that is crap. It whiffs of the owner headline-grabbing. Would have been nice to see her given a fair crack but I guess it wasn't to be. Rubbish and a big shame.

And now the case against Giggs has been dropped. 4 footballers on the trot, lives on hold, World Cups missed, careers messed up and all cleared. As before, I have no great answer to this problem but the current situation is not working.

I wonder if in the next instance, there will be another almost inevitably, whether the player / manager / club decide to keep playing / managing until the trial is over? Are they jumping too early right now?

Not sure it is fully the clubs' decision any more. So much effort needs to be made to keep sponsors happy and once accusations become public, they will not want the accused seen in kit with their name all over it.

not guilty does not necessarily mean innocence, let's not forget that. Thousands of women are raped/absued every single day, and barely any are convicted due to the fact it's not easy to prove as it's often one word against another.

There is literal evidence of Mason Greenwood abusing his girlfriend. The fact she's run back to him and is caught up in that (now with a kid FFS) should not mean that we should just move on and forget what happened. He shouldn't play football ever again, really.

In the Greenwood case it never actually made it to court, same with the Everton player (he has never been named and whilst it is obvious who it is I am going to follow the others and avoid naming him). Mendy and Giggs have both been cleared so in their cases not guilty does mean innocent, it is exactly what it means.

The conviction rates in this area are horrific but equally, if the charges are thrown out or the accused is found not guilty then their lives have been turned upside down as well. It's a mess 🤷‍♀️

with the Giggs case, the accuser was suddenly "unwilling to give evidence" so does that make him innocent?

Yea, exactly my point.

I understand the viewpoint with Mendy, but equally, he sounds like a bit of a sexual deviant and not pleasant at all; sex with 17 year olds, unprotected sex with multiple women and not caring about the risks etc...Top bloke really. 😐

It is all we can go off.

To be fair, they have had one trial already, this would have been a retrial. The evidence is out there now but the jury could not come to a conclusion. Unsatisfactory for all parties but that is the system.

I bet there are thousands of pro footballers who have had unprotected sex with 17 year olds and unprotected sex with multiple people. Not just footballers either.

According to the judge and law it does, she says not guilty in her summary.
We can always surmise but maybe there is cracks in her story and she doesn’t want to give evidence, maybe the prosecutor knows they have no chance.
These situations are never easy, but Giggs could of managed in a World Cup, that’s got to hurt considering he’s an innocent man.

Yea of course - but he's not shy about abusing his position of fame to get what he wants without worrying about the consequences and boasting that women basically threw themselves at him.
