Really? Watched BBC all morning and only minor mention of the issues and main focus on the positives for West Ham and their fans...

Driving into work the first story on both 5live and Talksport is about West Ham fans fighting with police, throwing bottles at them after the they tried to remove flares from the West Ham fans , they then go on to talk about the Fiorentina captain being hurt and then the 13 Italian fans arrested

It’s the same as the old cup winners cup , still a trophy and for players it’s a medal around their neck and a reward for doing well. It may not be the CL or even the Europa Lge but it’s the same as the Lge Cup - it goes on an honours board etc and Moyes and his players can say they won’t a trophy of note - the fans will rightly celebrate it

It’s a shame that the headlines at the moment are about the fan fighting police last night
It plainly isn't, the clue is in the title.

Ultimately though, the fans wont care, they have had a great time and it's a trophy in the cabinet.

In terms of the fans, West Ham are lucky that the Fiorentina players didn't walk off after the guy was hit. They would have been fully entitled to, they should feel safe on a pitch.

Jarrod Bowen stole my daughter's name! My wife's work friend is also good friends with Dani Dyer, who just had twins with Bowen. They named the girl twin Summer, which is my little girl's name. I reckon the mutual friend must have told them about our baby's name and they thought "that's nice, I'll have that!" Bloody name thieves.

the stupid thing is the rules as they stand the win would have been awarded to us no? which is disgusting , no support for players in that respect from the governing bodies

the first however long before the cups I thought they were play acting little buggers.. but after the way they handled it they jumped up in my opinion. massive respect for not making it boil over further. it could have got even worse

it shouldnt have to take our own players having words with the fans to calm down aswell

I meant in regards it’s the 3rd tier European Tournament in the same way that the Cup Winners Cup was

Indeed. The bottle that hit the player on the head was the best shot of the night.

I'd disagree with that. You could only qualify for the Cup winners Cup by actually winning something. The uefa Cup, although much stronger than the current Europa league, didn't need you to actually win anything. This balanced them out for me.

The Europa Conference has no real comparable trophy. I get your point but the Cup winners Cup was a much stronger tournament, it had more credibility.

Pleased for West Ham and Moyes in particular. Seems like a proper football bloke and got absolutely shafted having to takeover at Manchester United at the worst possible time and got a bad rep for not succeeding

Do West Ham fans still want Moyes sacked?

not for me.

i been mostly moyes in all season but even when I started to get ground down it was always leave in the summer never out now.

but after last night and hearing him talk after the semi give him a 3 year deal.

My father in law is a massive hammer....even after last night's events he thinks Moyes should move on. For now he'd rather finish mid table in the premier League every year than have this constant fight to stay up.... Albeit with a cup run.

It's a difficult one, I've never been experienced relegation so don't know what that's like to go through.

see I disagree only because its been 2 seasons out of 4 under moyes its been a battle to stay up (one was from bilic when moyes took over and kept us up) but thats 2 seasons of top half and european football through the league

6th and 7th wasnt it?

In normal circumstances, isn't Moyes exactly the type of manager that gets you a mid to top 10 league finish? What other manager would offer a bigger guarantee than that, given there is no certainty about anything? Surely West Ham and Moyes have simply had a less than satisfactory season, which will happen from time to time.

It is difficult to see a safer pair of hands than Moyes for me, compared to other managers that may become available. Sure, West Ham could roll the dice, and hope to bring in a manager that will play wonderful football, and push West Ham towards the top 6, or even the top 4. But, that could backfire and they could end up in the bottom 3. And, it may not be beyond Moyes to elevate the team again towards that upper tier anyway. He'll already be very familiar with the inner workings at West Ham, and may have a good idea what the missing pieces of the jig saw are. It is just whether he can get some of those missing pieces.

This season was a bit of a balancing act I guess. Most teams going into the Conference League would chuck their reserves out and concentrate on the league. Perhaps Moyes decided to go all out for the trophy, but it cost you some league results as you didn't have that strength in depth? Paid off now of course because you stayed up with a couple of weeks to spare and won the trophy. Does it now mean you qualify for next year's Europa League as well? I wonder if he'll take the same approach again and give that a proper go. You might need a few more bodies in the squad though.

Yes, they'll be in Europa League next year.

I'm sure they will give it a proper go. Just look at the joy some Villa fans in here had when they qualified for it. No point in being delighted in qualifying for Europe, and then playing the reserve squad when playing in it. West Ham showed their intent to try and win it this season, so of course they'll push to win Europa League next year

I agree. Daniel Levy doesn't though.

moyes said himself after the semi that he wanted to play more passing open football (was the plan in the summer) but injuries and then form meant we had to go back to basics

Aguard, injured in pre season until xmas really knocked the whole way he wanted to play
zouma in and out the team injured (they didnt play together until mid jan I think it was)
cornet, a rare (two cases seen in 25 years the surgeon said) injury that kept him out most of season
scamacca knee injury, wanted to avoid surgery (understandable) tried other treatments and then had to go under knife
paquata took time to adapt to the league
kehrer thrown in the deep end of the league and any mistake was pounced on by the fans
coufal still recovering from a hernia then a foot injury
add that to losing noble, irvine and pearce from the leadership and then back room for the latter 2 really took its toll

but we got there.

last night we had all of the squad bar scamacca availble for selection, subs like fornals, cornet, ings, ogbonna, kehrer is much more like it for sure

just like we did last season and this season. Like you say no point making it then not bothering.

Rice will be off now (confirmed by sullivan already, bad timing) but its who we replace him with. Id like to see JWP and Amrabat into the midfield
