But it goes back to your question then, how much money does a person need?

Are you suggesting it is very difficult to live on £20,000 a week, and that earning £415,000 a week just about makes up for the deficit the poor 28 year old has had to face? Had he earned £200,000 to £300,000 at another club in England, would this just not be enough to make up for his financial woes?

It's not about living on that money now it's providing for retirement considering they go at 38 after 20 years work but need to live for 50 plus more years

Clearly more incentive to go for Saudi money if you've been earning 4 figures most of your career as opposed to 6 figures.

As usual you've dragged this so far down the rabbit-hole that I'm thoroughly bored now. Have a nice day. 😂

Toney had an annual salary of just over a million pounds at Brentford. That is decent money for a normal human being.

If he earned a "modest" value of £150,000 a year at a top club for 5 years, that is an annual salary of £7.8 million. After that, he can probably carry on playing for a few years, and I'm sure there are plenty of sponsorship deals he gets money for.

After football, I'm sure Toney can still find employment in some way, shape or form. But, assuming he decides to completely retire, I think he could manage. I mean, a person earning £60,000 a year would earn £2.4 million over 40 years. Toney could have tripled that in a year at a top club, maybe much more than tripled it.

Clearly some will only be happy if Bruno moves to a club where he will be getting paid less.

Really, he’s damned if he does, and damned if he doesn’t in the eyes of some.

🙄
If Bruno had left it would have been: he is doing it for the £££ and Man Utd don't have the lure anymore

If he stayed, it is: he earns loads anyway, so it is still about the £££

These players will have expensive lifestyles. They won't want the lifestyle of someone on £60k a year even with their house paid off it won't cover their lifestyles.

Id imagine they would want a minimum of 200k a year plus a few million available for any purchases they want

No way would they be content with 60k a year. That's crazy talk.

The Newcastle Chronicle reported that the Toon had initial discussions with Mbuemo but pulled out when they wouldn't match the £200k+ per week Utd were offering. That's the pull of Utd.........

The club have made a lot of cost cutting measures over the last 12 months under INEOS

There is no doubt they will be offering big wages to players to go to the club

But they will need to do a lot more savings somewhere

Losing the likes of

Rashford and Casemiro will lift a big chunk off the wage bill

They will also need to bring in some money from player sales

What happened to the days when you only knew a club was interested in a player was when they announced the signing or you saw them run out on a Saturday morning? All this speculation, some started by the the player's own 'people' gets boring with players linked with multiple clubs, depending on where you get the information from. gets proper tiresome and boring.

I was only answering your question on "how much money people need"

Need is probably the wrong word. "Want" would be better. Some mega mega millionaires will just want more and more money, and follow the £££. Others will turn down higher £££, because they will have other "wants" from their career

And get a few more pennies from making low paid staff redundant.......

The 90s called ...

Social media happened and things like Championship Manager

Agents etc use the media

Players do as well

And of course there is a lot of click bait from wannabes ITK

I was only using £60K as a loose example of a normal human :ROFLMAO:

If Toney earned at least £40 million in a 5 year contract at a top club, and perhaps over his entire career earns £50-60 million in wages, it isn't too bad. Add on sponsorships, could he push towards £100 million in his footballing career?

If so, if he decided to sit on his backside for the next 50 years, I think he should have enough money to live a pretty decent lifestyle. Get a decent accountant / financial advisor to help.

But, ultimately, is is completely down to the individual. I personally feel a player in Toney's position could have had a pretty happy and comfortable life if they chose to go to a top European club. Perhaps some think he could struggle later in life? But, ultimately, he wanted to go there and earn the mega money, so maybe he truly wants to go all in on a lavish lifestyle. I'm thinking of the scene in Dumb and Dumber where they turn up to a party in their ridiculous coloured suits, or picturing Lewis Hamilton anytime he is wearing anything than other than his racing overalls :ROFLMAO:

Sancho has been so good at Chelsea, that it looks like they are going to pay Man Utd a £5 million penalty to get out of taking him on a full time deal. I guess they either don't want to pay the £25 million to get him full time and/or they don't value Sancho enough to pay him the wages he wants.

I wonder what is next for Sancho? He only turned 25 a couple of months ago, still very young.

Drop his wage demands, or Utd meet him part way, and go across to Germany. His stock is probably still good there, he could obviously thrive in that league.

That's the logical move.

Sancho - shame what’s happened , was a very good player at Dortmund, Man Utd chased him for ages , spent fortunes then didn’t play in the role to get the best out of him , fell out with ETH , back to Dortmund and did well again , back to United after the loan and seems made up with ETH but then send back out on loan

At 25 should be coming into his prime

Needs a move back to Germany to rebuild again

Sadly I think he's got the wrong people around him or he's just got an unrealistic view of his own ability. He's done absolutely nothing at United to suggest he's worth the money he's on. He went to Chelsea (freedom fighter!!) to reignite his career and had an opportunity to show that United was a blip and they made a mistake. Turns out he was absolutely useless at Chelsea as well and they've rightly decided that they're not going to pay him the same wage he's on now. There were rumblings that Dortmund weren't too dissatisfied to get shot as there were issues with his attitude. Not sure how many clubs will be willing to take a punt but he's certainly going to have to take a wage cut with any move.

The people who really do need looking at are those who arranged the loan deal with Chelsea. WTF did they include a get out option for Chelsea to send him back!! They need firing.

The clause is mad

I guess the wages he got were based on getting him from Dortmund- United chased him for ages as well

Dortmund were ok with him going back there last season when he helped them get to the CL final

I'm not sure if anyone heard Martin Keown's comment yesterday, but it proved why he must be earning the big bucks in being employed by a mainstream media company(s). He comes up with some brilliantly insightful comments. He said:

Man Utd should go out and get Klopp as their manager. And he meant it to be taken seriously.

The suggestion is almost equivalent to the Liverpool board trying to get Sir Alex Ferguson in as their manager when they were looking for one :ROFLMAO:
