I am of course not the England manager so I dare say I’m ignorant on this kind of stuff, but I would genuinely love to know exactly what "experience" he brings to the table - especially in games against Albania and Latvia.

What exactly does his presence around the training ground and on the field achieve in terms of experience, that can't be achieved by other experienced players who are more key to the first team such as Pickford or Kane?

Tuchel had a real chance to excite the fans with his squad selection, but on the showing so far it seems that like so many before him, he can't or won’t see beyond "the old guard".

I fear we’re just heading for the same mediocrity and disappointment that we’re used to by now. But I’ll be happy if I am proven incorrect in the long term.

It's his first squad and he's feeling his way into the task. Of course he was going to go with a tried and tested core.

Let's be honest the previous and current squad wasn't the issue with us missing out on trophies, the issue was the previous manager was a complete bottler with limited tactical abilty. I'd argue we don't need to make pointless changes for form players, it's far better to pick a consistent squad, go with it and add the odd new face along the way. What went on during training was probably more important than the actual games, given we played two rubbish sides that parked the bus. He would've learnt a lot from what he saw there and I think the next squad will probably reflect that, especially as there's a friendly involved where most first choice players will be rested, that's if they don't pull out entirely.

There's a right old meltdown happening on Twitter among the LFC fanbase about Trent Alexander-Arnold having the temerity to want to move to a bigger club. Fans burning TAA Liverpool shirts, trotting out footage of Stevie G saying he'd rather win one trophy at Liverpool than ten with any other club and all sorts of other hysteria.

Yet when they plunder "smaller" teams for their talent, it's just all part of football.

No doubt though, this situation is ENTIRELY different and this sort of reaction is warranted and justified and Trent Alexander-Arnold is a villain of the highest order.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I know plenty of LFC fans and individually they're sound and I have no issues with them. But as a fanbase, they are the absolute worst.

(Sorry in advance to any LFC fans on here. I know that posting this is like saying "Candyman" in the mirror three times).

A few things

There will always be the reactionary types and most will be all over Twitter

And when it comes to the idiot burning a shirt - well he has his fame now

Majority will say thank you and off he goes , it was his choice , for some there maybe a little bitter taste with what he has said over the last 18 months etc

The fans won’t give him the same sort of goodbye that others have received

We lose a very good player , he didn’t cost us anything to buy

And some local players will feel a little different when it comes to what they win at their local club compared to what they win at another club

As for “plundering” other clubs - im guessing you mean when they give a club some money to buy the player ? In the same way every single other club acts

As for the “fanbase” being the worst - I would hope and expect people not just pigeonhole a whole fanbase based on people on social media and the odd idiot

Every club has them and I’m not expecting anyone to judge whole fanbases based on the idiots

I don’t get it re the abuse TAA is and will continue to get. It’s like Ronaldo when he dreamed of playing for Madrid. He had Madrids posters on his bedroom wall. As a kid he dreamed of playing for them.
Let’s be right, TAA is not the first Liverpool player to go to Madrid. And certainly not the first that has gone on a freebie.

He should never be involved in football again. If owners are vetted for being “ proper “ people/owners, so should anyone involved in football.
How he escaped jail is beyond me. That’s Joey Barton am on about, not TAA 😁

I'm still trying to figure out how Liverpool have approached this situation, and should it be praised or criticised.

They, in their own opinion at least, have the best right-back in the world, 26 years old. His contract runs out at the end of this season. This time last season he was 25. Should they not have tried to finalise a contract extension then? And, if the player refused to sign one, sold him in the summer? If he is that good, that many of the worlds best club would want him in their side, Liverpool could have made a huge amount of money. Forget his defending, just for his crossing alone, how much would some of the big teams been willing to pay? £50 million, £70 million, £100 million?

I remember them burning Stevie G shirts when he handed in a transfer request.
Are they mad with him because he’s leaving,or because he run contract down & they’re getting nothing for him?
If it’s the latter, that’s on the club not him.

TAA gets the opportunity to expand his life experience and well as test himself in a new environment.

Most people take the easy option when confronted with that sort of career option. He's loved at Anfield, he's earning plenty and everything around him is familiar. Why move? Getting out of a warm bath is difficult.

Good luck to him.
