Reading reports this morning that Forest turned down a "record-breaking" bid from Chelsea for Murillo.

If these reports are true, what a giant middle-finger to the Cartel Six from Marinakis that is! 👏👏👏 Shows we're serious about maintaining our charge!

Love my owner!

Is it time to stop this player loaning? Either buy or sell the player. Allow loans out for under 21's, but only if the club do not buy or loan anyone in.
I don't agree with stopping loans (Rotherham Utd would be stuffed without loan players) but the system certainly needs to be reviewed. Some players are on continual loan for a couple of seasons and it is obvious that the parent club doesn't want/need them so why not just sell - unless it is a money fudge? Also, you should not be allowed to buy a player and then immediately loan them out, and certainly not loan them back to the selling club.
Loans should work when they are to develop a young player at a lower level or to help a player coming back form long term injury.

absoluately gutted to read that summerville will be sidelined for 2 months with an hamstring issue. Finally looked to be getting his chance once potter arrived. looked outstanding in his first half of first game but taken off as precaution. returned to training this week and hasnt gone to plan. real shame for the lad.

we are safe anyways its just a very long pre season for us now until potters first season starts in august lol wont get europe wont go down.. battle for mid table

Isn’t that the very reason why a loan is a great move for him and for Brighton?

As you say, he’s struggled with injuries and can’t get game time with you - at the current time. So he might as well get it somewhere else.

So unless the loan includes an option to buy (which I don’t think it does but could be wrong?) it surely makes sense for him to get game time, fitness and form somewhere else, rather than just sitting on the bench with you?
I take your point to a degree. As I mentioned to Pj87 I'd rather he was scoring goals for Brighton not West Ham.
He has had injuries but now coming back and there's no reason why he can't get a full game now.
Some of the comments regarding its good for younger players coming through I certainly agree with.
However, the season under Dezerbi he proved that he has come through that and was scoring goals for fun.

Also if Welbeck gets injured, which is quite likely, he's the ready made replacement so in my view it weakens the team overall.
I'd rather see Adringa at West Ham than Ferguson.

In essence it’s a decent idea, clubs get to buy a player with the intention of signing him, but loaning him out to a “ lesser” club to get experience. Normally it was a championship and lower team. But in the case of City and others it is abroad. There is a maximum of 6 players clubs can loan apparently. Bottom line they may not make the grade at City, Liverpool, chelsea etc, but the players usually find a level where they will earn a living. Plus they usually get sold on for a profit. Which in this day and age, sustainability is they key.

You've got a bargain in Tyler Bindon.

One of the most cultured centre backs I've ever seen at his age and huge potential. A real class act who can head, tackle, block and pass. Just a shame due to his contract situation we've been forced to sell on the cheap but nice to get a loan back.

Ah didn’t realise you were a Reading fan! Yes, I’ve seen a lot of Reading fans singing his praises on Twitter. His highlights reel looks very good indeed. I hope for his sake as much as ours that he genuinely does step up to Prem level after this season. 👍 The only thing I previously knew of him was that he was good for me in my FC24 Reading career on the PS5! 🤣

Absolute crying shame what’s happened to Reading though, in terms of your owner. I have to admit I don’t know the full details of the situation but as an outsider looking in, he sounds like an absolute piece of work. The rules around taking ownership of football clubs were surely designed to stop this sort of thing happening. They haven’t worked in Reading’s case and as always, the fans are the real victims. ☹️

He was superb at Leeds (stating the obvious I guess) but I think he's a great example of the gulf between Premier League and Championship, the handful of times I've seen him for West Ham he hasn't looked much of a threat against far superior defenders.

In flashes he looks excellent, but often he is just muscled out of games to obscurity by more physical defenders. Probably always going to be an impact sub.

Yes home and away! Well mainly home but do 5-6 aways a season as I like to groundhop too. Forum legends richart and Ethan are also season ticket holders!

We signed him in quite a bizarre way as his parents moved nearby from America and contacted the club saying their son was a good player. We took a look and snapped him up last summer! Given the circus going on around the club in recent times, he's been one of the main bright spots. League One is quite a physical league so when someone aged 18 with no experience suddenly starts games and looks good you know he's something special. He was decent last season but this season he's been exceptional, given we've had no full backs due to injuries and he's had to deal with a silly amount of crosses coming in. He's way too good for us and our level. I think he'd probably needs a Championship loan next season but he will be Premier League quality. That said you guys are doing so well it's a big ask for him to step into a Top 6 side! Whatever happens he'll be a good investment! Have you still got Omar Richards with you? Another one we let go for nothing when he signed for Bayern Munich!

Thanks, it's really the sort of stuff from a James Bond film regarding the owner. There's been some bad owners before but he's quite something. He's invested in the club and built one of the best training grounds in Europe at a cost of over £50m, we've got a Cat A academy which keeps producing but he wasted so much money on bad transfers it's unreal. He had our wages to turnover ratio at over 300% which is madness. Then the CCP turned on him and froze his assets, so he's been skint for the last 3 years and put in nothing. We got relegated in 2023 and have had points deducted in the last 3 seasons which is a record. He claims to want to sell the club but 5 deals have broken down and no one knows what will happen. We're currently under a transfer embargo for not releasing accounts in the last 2 years, which is actually a criminal offence for any director yet nothing has been done. Our highly rated manager left in December for Hull and we've sold our only striker to Wrexham for £2m last week 😅

Meanwhile we're challenging for the play offs due to the academy and some great free transfers over the last few years. I can't see any progress until he sells up though.

I wonder if Piers Morgan is the most deluded bias fan out there

It seems that there has been a “shift in power” from Pep to ………Arteta

He is now it seems the top manager in the Prem and in Europe and they are the team to fear and the table is false at the moment

He slagged off Arteta early in his Arsenal career.

Then praised him last season as Arsenal started to show consistency.

Then earlier this season, he was really critical of Arteta again when Arsenal went through a bit of a slump, and the whole striker problem

Now he is the top manager after a good run of games and hammering City.

And, most likely, in a while Arsenal will have a blip and he'll doubt Arteta again.

I'm not sure why sports media want Morgan's opinion given he isn't a sports professional. Well, I do, because he is happy talking trash.

I suspect he’s got exactly what he wanted 🎣 😂

For all the difference of opinions/ arguing we have on here re VAR. It seem we were right to argue.

It is interesting the headlines will highlight the mistakes, thus the conclusion is often "VAR is rubbish, scrap it" if the details are not read. But, there have been 70 VAR interventions so far this season, 4 of them deemed to be incorrect. Which implies on 66 occasions, VAR was correct to intervene. Thus in 94% of cases, VAR has been a benefit in coming up with the right decision instead of relying on the on field referee, and in 6% of occasions it has been worse in comparison to the (original) decision made by the onfield referee. So, it would seem clear that VAR is giving us more correct decisions (and, of course, this doesn't include offsides which VAR should get correct significantly more often then relying on the linemen).

Don't get me wrong, I still hate it. Not because it is making worse decisions than we had before. But because when something happens in a game, you have that awful wait to see if a few guys in an office want to make a match changing decision. That includes tight offside calls, I hate that wait.

He's no different to every other Arsenal fan then.

Every club has them to be fair.

The truly deluded who see no wrong with their club regardless of how bad things are in certain areas / periods. And the yo-yo fans who just go from one extreme to another. Overly negative when certain things don't go quite right and stupidly over the top optimistic when they do well. Looks like Piers is the yo-yo type fan.

Oh, I see they’ve found that “best referee in the country” Anthony Taylor and his chums wrongly disallowed Milenkovic’s goal against Southampton.

Yeah, we knew that already. As soon as it happened.
