Our owners visions are the same - Still had to sell Luiz and Diaby...

PSR is king
Of course - but you're not having to have a fire sale and can re-strengthen with good recruitment. Keeping the spine of the team intact is key I think. Any team that can do that should be able to maintain some sort of consistency. Although it's obviously easier said than done!

I think the difference between Leicester (and the likes of Brighton etc) is Marinakis has pretty deep pockets anyway AND the ambition/vision to take Forest back to the top of the food chain. He's not in it to make money (unlike the Crystal Palaces of this world who's owners are happy for them to be mid-table and collecting their TV money and transfer fees each season), he's in it for success. So whilst we will have to sell to stay within PSR, the fact they're looking to offer Murillo a new contract speaks volumes. He's under contract til 2028, so plenty of time left on his contract to not bother and wait for the bidding to start.

And yes, Aina is out of contract in the summer, so priority this Jan needs to be him signing another contract. He's comfortably in the top 2 or 3 Fullback's in the league this season, so we'd be silly to let him go.

I’m sure the Leicester ownership also had deep pockets as well

If a big club come calling then I suspect some players will be on their way until a team is getting consistent CL and winning stuff

We had the same when we were losing big players

Not lost lots of pieces but have lost key pieces - and we are falling short without them in the league now.

Not every piece of recruitment is a hit, some miss

just recruit from Brazil. Done wonders for us.

But that's the main crux of it. If you can somehow keep your key players, you can build the rest of the team around them (in theory!)

That's the issue, Juventus came calling. Dougie listened.

You'll have the same problem - Forest are a big club, but there's a lot of bigger clubs out there paying 3-4-5x what you do to players with much better chances of silverware.

It all comes down to PSR, I've no idea on your situation in that regard, just hope youre not in the same boat as us and Newcastle were..

If you qualify for CL your PSR is tighter than the prems too - just FYI

Which makes absolutely no sense to me!

We're certainly not going to be able to be free and easy with transfers, but selling Johnno for pure £55m profit and Mangala/Niakhate to Lille for A LOT more than we paid for them both will have certainly helped our cause.

Moussa we paid £14m and sold for £32m
Mangala we paid 13m and sold for £23m (plus a loan fee of £12m).

So outside of the first season back when we basically threw a lot of stuff at the wall and kept what stuck (which we needed to do, because we didn't have enough players to field a squad), our recruitment and transfers out have actually been pretty good.

yeah the CL PSR rules are weird but its about 10% less expenditure allowed on playing staff or something like that. Not as much of a concern for the proper big boys but for teams just breaking in its another barrier.

Edit - PSR is just rubbish, you (and Villa while I'm making my point) have done great work on some sales etc, the issue comes when improving your squad no longer costs £12m and now costs £50m per player.

You've got a great first XI, maybe need a proper backup striker - that'll be 30m or more for proven talent or a punt for a lot less that you hope pays off.

Not trying to be Mr. Doom and Gloom btw, just kinda sharing the issues we have faced that you are also now likely to.

Oh absolutely. I'm under no illusion that we'll magically just become a comfortable top 6 team, but It's nice to have an owner with ambition and vision for the club who has made some wholesale changes which have improved the club (both on and off the pitch) considerably. Especially after about 50 managers in 20 years who got us absolutely nowhere under the previous ownership(s) - that's not a knock on Nigel Doherty either, more-so on Fawaz who nearly ran the club into the ground.

So Graham Potter

1. Is he someone who seems to have got better whilst being without a jump

And 2

Who is getting him

West Ham or Everton
I suspect both clubs are talking right now to see who jumps first, if they have any sense. Neither manager is working, why wait? The sooner you get him in, the sooner he can start to improve things, which I think he would do.

If I was Potter, I'd go to West Ham. They are in a better position overall, the squad is better, the financials are better. I'd love him at Everton, if he could do a Brighton with us I'd be very happy. I know this view is not universally held but I'd take him.

Dortmund, Juve and another are keen on Rashford ……. Surprise surprise his wage demands are the stumbling block, so it’s likely only a loan deal will be reached in this window !

Fouls off the ball……..I just don’t understand anymore. Arsenal guy just yanked back Isak as he was running into the box, no free kick? Also, there so much more shirt pulling aswell.
