I think that's just the richness of the English language. People just use it as a turn of phrase and aren't necessarily attaching the level of meaning to it that you perhaps do.

Eg. When my wife says to me "If you come home drunk, I'll kill you." I don't take that to mean that if I have a few too many, she will actually end my life.
As long as you are certain

Or maybe it wasn’t years later

And what “panel” - Pickford wasn’t given a red card so didn’t need to go to a panel

It was bad tackle , he was late , it was high and it should have been a red - not sure what the issue is

They aren’t exactly anything out of the ordinary for most players these days

You could also point out the overreaction of Snodgrass and the Bournmouth player who went down like they been shot

What about the rudiger kick out? He innocent there aswell?

The fact that there are 3 easily found ones without the Gomez one sums up son.

Now I've found 3 evidences of him being a dirty little player. Yet people will defend him

If he owned it fair enough

It's the fact nice guy act
Again though - where is the act?? If people think he's a nice guy they have formed that opinion based on watching his interviews, where he sounds like a genuinely nice guy. I don't think he'd be acting - why would you bother? He is a nice guy who is super-competitive on the field. Nothing more to it. You don't have to be an a-hole to get stuck into a challenge when you play football. I've played with enough players at Sunday League level who've been slinging leg-breakers in but the nicest guy in the world as soon as the final whistle goes.

How many players do you see not pleading their case when they get a red card? You'd have to go back to Roy Keane to find someone who just decked a player then walked off without issue.

You've got a problem. 😄

The kick out against rudiger is a prime example of his snide behaviour

You can't claim to be innocent after kicking out once you been tackled

Filthy twonk.

So, people are basically judging personalities now because a player once made a petulant foul? Let's name a player that has never given away a stupid foul. Not many.

If you make it to the top level of professional football (or any level of professional football), you have to be physical. You see players, all the time, stand on players heels, put their arms out, get touch tight, push players even after the ball has gone, etc. It is what they are taught to do, because it makes the opponents uneasy and feel they have less time on the ball, knowing an opponent is going to have a niggle. They are also told to make professional fouls, to stop a situation getting more dangerous.

Had Son gone in kung-fu style, I'd agree with the point some are making. But, he did something that every single other player does. I bet Gomes has pushed over an opponent before, just like every single footballer?

Perhaps people just take more offence when a grown man cries?

Yeah, lots of people have kicked out in the heat of the moment. I remember Maguire kicking someone towards the ad boards, but he doesn't get labelled. Eden Hazard kicked a ball boy but he didn't seem to get labelled a dirty player either. You've just got a vendetta against Son which is frankly a bit weird. He's no better or worse than any other top player.

Exactly. Having an edge is part and parcel of making it at the top level.

Steady on mate, I think that's a bit racist... 👀

People have done it yes. How many times tho? There is a pattern with son

Snodgrass kick out.
Red card Vs Bournemouth
Gomez leg break
Rudiger kick out

Now after he broke Gomez leg there was this Campaign that son was the cleanest player in the game, never so much as looked at a player the wrong way

Could buy that if he didn't do those snide fouls on a regular basis
