I said it here more than once last season, Hojlund survives off scraps. And you’re spot on. His conversion rate is right up there.

Of course, there are plenty out there, and some post here, who will take a pop at him because he pulls on a United shirt. But I think it’s 20 goals now in 57 United appearances. He doesn’t miss many glaringly easy chances.

I feel for the lad. He’s the only striker at the club, and that’s an enormous weight on the shoulders of someone his age. Those who criticise him do so based on what they see on MOTD or read in the papers. Not from watching him for 90 minutes.
His strength and hold up play is excellent as well. You watch him control a ball pinged up to him, centre back all over his back, and he managed to get control of it more often than not, and keep move going.

Yes, should be bread and butter for most No. 9's. But it is the sort of attribute you will see not one iota of if Rashford is playing No.9. I suppose Zirkzee can do it, but I'm worried that his shot conversion over time would be around 0.2%. Is he a Weghorst?

I thought Utd were pretty good tonight, at least after conceding the 2 poor goals.

Much more entertaining than we've generally been (not difficult). Could have put it out of sight in second half, but still need to work on actually sticking ball in the back of the net. Though, scoring 3 is no disaster.
If you think they have turned a corner after just about beating a team no-one has heard of then you may be in for a few more disappointments before the year is out ;)

At no point had I said they turned a corner. I just thought they were generally pretty decent. Some bad moments, but a lot of good stuff as well. I could see a style that Amorim wanted to play, and players trying to execute it. I thought players like Mazraoui, Ugarte, Mount and Hojlund looked very strong.

Yes, I'd never heard of Bodoe/Glimt before, as Goldbridge said, he thought it was a character from Star Wars. But, from what people have said who have done a bit of research on them, they are much better than people think, and they've sort of come from nowhere in the last few years and become a pretty decent side. Regardless, Utd have often been inept against the weakest of sides, so a good performance against pretty much anyone is a positive for me.

We had good results under Ten Hag, under Ole, etc. I was always pleased to see it, but never said we'd turned a corner. Because the next result could always be horrible. I expect some horrible results under Amorim, he has the same players. But I like that he looks to be heavily experimenting with the players, testing as many as he can, testing them in different positions.

I think the important takeaway for United last night was going a goal down, not losing their heads and coming back to win.

Still far too early for any judgement at all on Amorim but at least the players are trying for him early on!

Hojlund looks a solid striker , was a lot of money for him - his record in European comps is good - 8 so far

Needs service and I was surprised that he didn’t start at the weekend

I reckon we might see some heavy rotation in the early games of Amorim. If players play games, they can't really train well when there are 3/4 days between games. It seems like he really wants key players to have hard training sessions as well, so when he leaves them out for a game, that will be their training time. More difficult in Hojlund's position, as he is really the only proper No.9 we have. Hence why we saw Rashford up there in Amorim's first game (Amorim pretty much said last night Rashford isn't suited to that position, as we all know). I guess we'll see Zirkzee up there for some games as well.

Though, I guess it depends how rigidly he sticks to this. Will he just decide Hojlund is the only person suited to that position, and just play him every game if he feels he can rest him more in training?

No point in predicting his line up for each game, except I'm sure he'll have Onana in nets against Everton, and probably give Mainoo his chance in midfield.

Thought that’s a foul on the near post for Arsenals goal.

Shoulder in his back as he jumped just not trying to play the ball.

Arsenal are becoming one of the dirtiest teams about. Nothing against the fans but Lego head makes them unlikable with the dark arts every few mins

Was always going to lose this one tho
