Nobody is an anchor presenter until they're given a first chance.
At the same time though, I'm not sure they'll give someone their first chance to wing it and learn the ropes on their flagship football program. Surely they would've been bedded in on a smaller program first. For example, Alex Scott on Football Focus. Or Chapman who presents/presented MOTD2 on a Sunday.

Personally though I think it would be interesting if they blew the expected names out of the water and recruited a big name presenter from somewhere else.

Not sure about her on MotD.
Wasn't sure about her on anything until she did Taskmaster, on which she's been fab.
I know it's not football related, but she's been incredible, hasn't she? The whole cast this series has to be fair (as per usual, frankly).

It's by far the best thing on TV.

Not sure this seems right

Whilst I can understand Coote will have issues being a ref again within the Prem

Why should the other guy have issues with his job just because he doesn’t like someone or a team - that’s not a crime

He has shown himself to be a bit of a wally and very unprofessional. If he's seeing clients face-to-face then that could be an issue.

I think the moral of all this is that in this day and age of camera phones and everyone potentially having access to an audience of millions, just don't bother saying or doing anything that might upset or offend anyone at all. Doesn't matter who you are or what you do for a living, it can easily come back and bite you on the arse.

Apparently Liverpool fans have been all over social media linking his employers,I’m guessing they don’t want the negative publicity 🤷‍♂️
