He wasn’t, he wanted regular football and Pep wanted him to stay. But Palmer wanted regular football. it is odd how all of a sudden people have sat up and taken notice of Palmer. He has been like that for a couple of seasons and performed very well in the City team. I said so at the time but it seemed the comment was rose tinted glasses. It wasn’t.I said at the time he is as good as Foden, pep wanted Palmer to follow the same route as Foden and not Sancho. Didn’t turn out well for him.
I hope Palmer does not end up being burnt out as a player. At City he would/ was rotated.Am not sure that’s going to happen at Chelsea as he is central to them. What seems to be missed by a lot of folk re Palmer is his manager. Enzo Maresca. His path is a well trodden path with a lot of experience. Similar to Pep. He has worked with Palmer whilst manager at the Elite development squad at City. He knew exactly what kind of player he was buying and is a manager who can improve the player
For the record City have a good few others coming through the academy inc Oscar Bobb who has suffered a bad injury. The acadamy had earned over £500 million in sales for City.

Palmer only started about 7 games for City

He wasn’t bought by Maresca , was bought when Pochettino was manager

And Oscar Bobb was bought last year from Valerenga and was part of the international youth set up for years in Norway

According to Sky Germany Liverpool are looking at two Bundesliga replacements

Finally, Liverpool have identified Eintracht Frankfurt's Egypt forward Omar Marmoush, 25, and Borussia Dortmund's Germany attacker Karim Adeyemi, 22, as potential replacements for Egypt winger Mohamed Salah, 32. (Sky Germany). Having watched a bit of Marmoush in the Frankfurt games (they are my favourite German team) he does look very good and I think would be a perfect replacement

Pretty sure Palmer said in an interview that he would have gone out on loan, could be wrong tho.

Oh don't get me wrong, he's amazing of course. But all the media hype around him has the potential to be a bit OTT and possibly even damaging - as we've seen in the past.

I believe this award was voted for by fans and it just smells of people jumping on the bandwagon of hype.

All that said, I like the guy and rate him highly! Some of his interviews have been nothing short of hilarious, he seems to have his feet on the ground and hopefully will continue to ignore the noise and just keep performing. I had to chuckle at his reaction to the melee of handbags that happened in the Forest Chelsea game. Not sure if people saw it, but while everyone else was piling in, he just sat down and watched it - like a little kid who was watching bigger kids have a fight! :ROFLMAO: Thought that was a brilliant reaction!
When it comes to public votes, or any votes, people don't stick to the criteria most of the time. This was a vote for England's best player, but how many would see Palmer's name in the media for his Chelsea accomplishments and vote on that basis - Bellingham hasn't been in the news much this season so far. It is exactly the same when people vote in the council elections citing national issues that are not under the influence of the councils.

If everyone else had done what he had done, there would have been no issue. The melee in football is one of the most pointless things you will ever see. Pushing and shoving, escalating a situation that would be resolved in seconds if left to the ref. Players pile in 'to protect' their team mate but the incident, ie a bad tackle or similar, has already happened. They pile in, it kicks off, multiple players get booked and for what? They haven't done anything to help their mate or their team. Quite the opposite, they now have a yellow card that means they have to watch what they do for the rest of the game. Drives me nuts when I see it happen, it's pathetic.

Palmer was the only smart one amongst them.

Plenty of players in the past weren't the smartest cookies and very poor in front of a camera. As long as he's doing it on the pitch not sure he or the club will care and all have media training now

This reminds me of something I heard someone say in the past about David Beckham (might have been a comedian saying it, can't remember who)

"Why do people go on about David Beckham being thick? He's a footballer, it doesn't matter. I mean, you don't hear people going on about Stephen Hawking being crap at football do you?"

If you're a Sky Six player, you're allowed to smack someone in the face during one of these pile-ins and you get no punishment for it. ;)

I'm not condoning violence, but no one ever actually does smack someone. It's not like a rugby pile on which sees genuine violence and retribution, which again I am not condoning. It's playground stuff, players trying to look 'hard' whilst actually embarrassing themselves. Let the ref sort it, get on with the game.

Is it not just a push? Around the face, but it just looks a push imo. Hard to tell though.

Contact in the face. Under the laws of the game that's violent conduct. And still would have been even if he didn't make contact.

But, unsurprisingly in this case, the PL have not punished it.

I agree it should be a red but it isn't a haymaker. The Forest lad wont have a mark on his face. But yes, it should have been red.

No it isn't. The laws importantly say "unless the force is negligible" after talking about a strike to the face.

So, there is still a judgement call to be made
