Is there any precedent for sacking a manager at half time?

I recall being roundly criticised during the last WC when I was critical of Southgate. And at regular intervals since. But he is a truly awful manager. Awful.

We were dire for the first three games of this tournament and yet ten of this starting XI have started every game. That is an absolutely appalling indictment of the manager, who has made very minor tweaks but in reality changed practically nothing. He has a 26 man squad. He might as well have taken 13 or 14 players.

Southgate has 45 minutes to salvage something from his England tenure. If he doesn’t make a number of changes for the second half then he can wave goodbye and we can say good riddance.

Palmer on for Saka. Gordon for Foden. And anyone on for Kane. Anyone at all. He has been absolutely anonymous as a player and leader.
