Mainoo has to start really , better than Trent and Gallagher in that position

If anything Bellingham has been the issue tonight. Foden cam and Palmer left with mainoo in next to rice if Bellingham can't (won't) play deeper.

Absolutely they do. They both had an energy that nobody else has shown. I certainly think Mainoo will start ahead of Gallagher and TAA, but I’m not sure Southgate has the balls to start Palmer.

The problem for me is that England have absolutely no momentum whatsoever. They’re starting the knockout stages very much flat footed.

Very, very poor.

England in the easiest group going and they score 2 goals in the three games - very poor , a decent team will smash them unless they sort it out
