I wouldn't worry about it, I've always learnt to treat a good amount of Liverpool fans opinion with an extreme pinch of salt? Especially when it is a negative opinion about a player associated with Man Utd, or a positive opinion about a Liverpool player :)
I use the same analogy for armchair supporters of aĺl clubs;)

When you pay £80mil for a CB you should expect a bit more than just someone to head the ball out and give it a good hoof

What West Ham will pay for him is prob nearly his value maybe even a bit too much then
He didn't just give it a hoof though. He actually did well at breaking forward from defence, especially in a team with a pretty poor midfield. The problem was that Utd were barely ever able to control a game, but they knew they had to try. It meant that instead of sitting deeper and defending, they'd run all over the place to try and play attacking football. Inevitably lose it in bad positions, and then the defence would have had virtually zero protection to the counter attack.

Utd probably needed to set up as a more boring, tough to beat side, and play on the counter. At least until they found a way of playing better when in possession. I think most defenders would have looked terrible in that Man Utd side the last few years, certainly before ten Hag. We'd have probably done better with 4 Kyle Walker types, who could just sprint back and protect the counter. Prioritise pacy defenders over ones that can dominate in the air.

Also, he did give away possession at times, but again, if you are trying to pass to people like Fred or to wingers who spend more time with their head down, then I think that would be enough to make anyone nervous.

Tony Hibbert was a product of the excellent Everton Academy.

I dont rate Maguire and i've been consistent with it regardless of the teams he plays for. If Moyes gets a tune out of him i will credit him for that.

Like I said working with defenders he had aswell

Maigure never lets England down and was brilliant for Leicester and hull

If City are serious then I think we will struggle to hold on to him. I would be gutted, most skilled player we have. JWP is not a suitable replacement.

Don't think JWP replaces him tbh, fornals will fill his role at first but will need a number 10 brought in

I hope it was a better viewing experience than the London Stadium.

Horrific stadium not fit for purpose to be a football stadium imo.
It was 30c, clear skies, I was on holiday 😄. We were at the furthest point away, behind the goal, what would be the curve of the track between us and the pitch. Too far really but then any worse then level 7 at St James, or top at the Camp Nou?

As with all athletics stadiums, they should ditch the track, put seating in and get the fans nearer the pitch. No argument there.

edit, I would add, the walk up to the ground, frequently via escalators to help out, through the gardens, fountains (sadly not switched on due to water shortages), Olympic buildings and statues, past the grand museum, before reaching the ground, then having the sun setting quite dramatically, that made any distance from the pitch that bit more tolerable 😄

I’ve walked through the Olympic park in Barcelona and it is a very impressive place. Very relaxed atmosphere when no events are being held.

I think the highlights reel highlights his failings - slow and clumsy. He's a trier for sure and very professional BUT that doesn't make him a good centre back. For me he's neither Premiership or International standard - clearly those in the know see it differently.

Starting CB for the second most successful English international football team or all time tho

Hasn't really let England down

Wasn't it sir Harold who missed the pen? Yet given a free pass

I was thinking more of Maguire’s awfully weak defending for the Giroud header. It’s all very well Maguire performing in games England are expected to win, but when it came to the crunch on the biggest stage he wasn’t up to it.

Given his lack of game time at United I think most would agree he’s a very lucky fella to still be getting a pick for England.

Same with stones tho? Hardly plays as a CB for city

How successful was that team when he was in the team

A league cup when sitting on the bench

Playing for Man Utd doesn’t automatically make the player good enough

Last season was their best season for a while and it’s not surprising he spent most of it on the bench

He is decent at best -will do ok in a team fighting relegation or top of the championship playing for a team with a deep defending line heading balls clear
