When we talk about crowds chanting about disasters and reverting to all chants the response is always “minority of idiots” etc etc - well when someone thinks it’s ok to throw in the “victim” shout when everyone know where it’s aimed at and they feel justified to say it - it shows the mentality

It’s a shame because the talk was just about the way that city played which was very impressive considering the opponents - unfortunately someone had to change that

You really are an idiot aren't you?

Read what I said. Nothing about Madrid being unsupportable. All about saying they are better than city at being less corrupt

Plus anyone but the victims

And this is where the problems started.........

It's a shame that all the talk on here last night and this morning isnt about the great game of football. City looked in full control and it seems Pep may be realising that tinkering and trying to be too clever isnt the way to go.

Calm down everyone, it's only football. No one died.

As much as many won't want to see it or admit it, football clubs are run first and foremost as a business. It's about shareholder returns. Every club will have an army of accountants making sure they pay minimal taxes, how to avoid certain fees and making sure that the club returns maximum beneficial profits. And so there are skeletons in most closets, even if we think our club is squeaky clean. Hell, even my club, a small provincial Scottish club, have been embroiled in dodgy land deals (allegedly )
All clubs will have investment strategies that mean that money coming in to the the club (and going out) will come from all over the world and all sorts of businesses, some - and I know this might be shocking - less kosher than others. So unless you know where every penny/dime/dirham/rand/yen comes from then it's probably best not to try to take any moralistic high ground stance.

There's many clubs out there who claim that it's all for the fans (just like there are many businesses that claim to be "customer centric") but realistically if it doesn't provide a shareholder return then it's not happening, regardless of fan impact.

Professional Football is a money machine in every aspect and this is now seeping down in to the lower leagues too. But at the end of the day, it's just a game. A bunch of folk running around chasing a ball. Is it worth all the aggro? Really?

There should be a version of the 70's drink drive ad. Think before you post before you drive (others mad).

Oh stop it. Liverpool paid way over the odds to shut Southampton up. It’s well known by everyone and their dog.

City have more disposable income, get over it. I would bet my house that if Liverpool had that sort of money to spend, they’d spend it.

It’s not about someone having more disposable income - most of the owners in the Prem are billionaires and can throw money at their club

It’s about the financial rules that the club voted to bring in and the fact that one club appears to believe they don’t matter to them

115 charges of financial fair play breaches - that’s systemic cheating to allow the club to spend that disposable money. It’s them having the believe that they can just hire the most expensive lawyers to get out of it and delay tactics to trip up the governing bodies - it worked with UEFA - thankfully the FA doesn’t have the same restrictions

What happens to those charges will shape the future of the league - if they are upheld then it will show they mean business when it comes to ensuring the sport isn’t just about who has the most money and goes some ways to making sure it’s still a sport

But if City get away it then it’s open season for all the states to come and it becomes a sport on which club has the richest owner - and that’s the day the league has gone , that’s worse that than horrific super league and if Liverpool sold out to a state then I’m done with it all.

I think people had a few too many beers last night to be honest :ROFLMAO:

I bet Haaland is gutted he's not bagged against Madrid over 2 games! I've no doubt that'll fire him up for the finals to come though!

He didn’t look a happy bunny - every chance he had seemed to have Courtois in the way

One thing I noticed last night with the crowd was the differing reactions of the stands - the fans behind the goal in the first half went mental whenever the team scored as you would expect , but the crowds in the stands either side of the pitch appeared very reserved , polite clapping etc - it was almost like they were neutrals

We get the likes Ferdinand etc at BT Sport and the US get these

Could be a few reasons for this:

1. It is because Liverpool fans are much better than Man City fans.... :)
2. Nearly every camera angle immediately after a goal has been scored captures the crowds behind the goal. You therefore get their immediate reaction, whereas the camera pick up the crowd at the side of the pitch just after this immediate euphoria
3. They are further away. If you are right behind the goal and can almost look into the players eyes, while they run towards you to celebrate, does a fan react with more vigour than if they are at the side of the pitch and the players are almost dots in the distance?

There was a camera image of Pep when a goal went in, and the crowd behind him seemed to celebrate with plenty of enthusiasm

A lot of places are like that though. You get their versions of Kops, Holte Ends etc and then other stands tend to be more family based.

I've not sat down at a Villa game for over 3 years now. Not once home or away. Other stands at Villa sit - just not the Holte.

I saw a lot of footage of City fans doing their classic backs turned to the pitch thing in the sideline stands.

Victims isn’t always about Hillsborough, you just like to assume it is.
It’s also about how Liverpool fans always feel hard done by over everything 👍🏻👍🏻

Imagine he doesn't find the net against Inter.

He'll be a bottler.

The 1st half performance from Manchester City was exquisite. Overloaded, relentless attacks with every man trying to win the ball back like there life depended on it when they lost it. Breath taking. They seemed to change tactic 2nd half as they reverted to a 4-4-2 and denied Real Madrid space. I also enjoyed how Manchester City gave Real Madrid a great big heaped spoonful of there own play acting, time wasting, cheating medicine at times. Wonderful stuff.

Enough silliness, back to tonight's game between 2 of the teams of the season. Which Brighton will turn up, the one who gave Arsenal a lesson or the one who were schooled by Everton (okay, I know that didn't happen but in a sorry season we have to stretch the truth a little ). Newcastle need a win to steady their ship, make sure that top 4 is guaranteed. Hard one to call but I don't think Newcastle at home will allow Brighton the space and time that Arsenal gave them and so I think Newcastle will sneak a win, just.
