Fleeting? Agree not a gouge but he's certainly shoved him in the face, and judging from the photo poked him in the eye in the process (not as bad as a gouge). Overall verdict is that it probably did hurt, just wasn't enough force to knock you off your feet. He's obviously done that to highlight it to the referee, which as I've said, almost all players do instinctively now. The 'real world' reaction if you like, would be to hold your hands to your face for a minute or two - maybe drop to one knee briefly. :D

Nah in the real world you punch the other guy in the face and laugh at him for slapping you 🤣🤣🤣

Yes fleeting. He didn't hold his hand against his face, squeeze the eyeballs, scratch the skin. As you put it, he shoved him in the face, red card. You have summed the rest of it all up really, Kane over reacts. He didn't need to but once committed to a Shakespearean moment you have to carry it through

Hmm, by this definition a boxing jab is also 'fleeting'. :p

There is the nail on the head for me.
years ago players were more or less forced to go down because the ref wasn’t giving obvious fouls.
Salah is a perfect example he is fouled more than Grealish but the refs give him very little.
I know most won’t agree with this but if you watch the amount of fouls on him it’s a joke.

The refs letting things go is going back to those times imo.

8 game ban for Mitrovic, seems pretty much the minimum he could get really
That should be a warning and use it for players surrounding the ref will get yellow cards in future.
Only the Captain can and should ask for clarity on decisions.
They can do it if they want,

It’s Don Goodman
Maybe it’s time for the players own fans to actually condemn the actions of their players

Kane made a meal of it as he does a lot - it’s not the first time and it won’t be the last time.

Instead of just brushing it off condemn it

The red card was the right result and it would have happened without the Oscar performance - Kane should have been shown the yellow as well
Rubbish! Duocore used quite a bit of force and he had every right to go down, also it was a bit of a shock as Kane wasn't expecting it.

So a suggestion that would probably make think twice about "highlighting it for the ref" is dismissed as all players do it?
No wonder football is where it is if two wrongs do make it right.

The whole incident is exactly the kind of thing that has turned me off football in the last 10-15 years...
Blatant pushing followed by a raised hand followed by instant death....
It's pathetic...some antics seen in other games make things even worse...
They're all a bunch of cheats who are paid too much and act like spoilt brats when things don't go their way...

VAR really should mean there is no reason for the likes of Kane, Fernandes and co to highlight anything to the referee. They merely make themselves look like pillocks.

I remember Ronaldo’s early days at United. He used to hit the deck at every opportunity, so much so that he actually got as much grief from the Old Trafford faithful as he did from visiting fans. Not quite the same as the overacting we see in order to get opponents carded, but infuriating nevertheless.

I really don’t care about the level of “force” some think they saw at Goodison last night. Kane’s reaction was clearly slightly delayed, and very obviously over the top. He’s a grown man playing a contact sport for pity’s sake. He should have woken this morning feeling utterly embarrassed by his antics. But, of course, we all know that won’t have happened.

Thats why I say make it a HIA situation which means 10 mins to check off the pitch. At least that would stop the feigning of being uppercut for what was just a push in the face, red card deserving of yes, but not the reaction.
