Wasn't too bad, until Betis scored. De Gea is an absolute liability on the ball. I'm curious as to why they are so eager to play it short to him on goal kicks. It's similar to allowing Phil Jones to take free kicks, if he was on the pitch.

Still a great shot stopper but a little bit left behind in the world of modern goalkeeping with his distribution which has always been exceptionally bad. For that reason alone I still have a sneaky feeling Ten Hag may look elsewhere in the summer.

This second half has been much better, so far at least. But Betis will be kicking themselves that Antony was allowed to do what everyone watching knew he was going to do. Apart, that is, from their own left back. And also that one of the shortest players on the pitch was allowed to score with a free header from a corner.

How is that not red for Fernandes?

Wonder how he would have reacted if he was on the receiving end of the same tackle

over the ball but may have got away with it because it’s more from the side of the foot

If there was one person who I had good money on to try and prove a point with yet another still image, it was you Phil. Once again, an image which is out of context. That challenge was nowhere near as bad in real time.

Its not as bad as that image but he clearly goes over the ball and fouls the keeper which in almost every instance in the last few years is a red card and deemed out of control

You asked why it wasn't a red. I tried to answer why the ref, and VAR, felt it wasn't a red. I'm not sure I am the one with the tinted glasses on :)

There are a lot of tinted glasses being worn when it comes to Fernandes, but he has largely brought it upon himself.

At least he isn't trying to tell us the picture proves Bruno was looking at his ankle, and therefore meant to hurt him. :)

We will have to agree to disagree on this one. I still think he’s entitled to go for the ball, and has pulled out of the challenge when he realised he wasn’t getting it. A yellow was the right call.
