The all things EV chat thread

I'm sure there are. I was just using Gridserve as an example as that's who Mudball used.
I just checked, Octopuss at home charging is £0.07kwh between 11.30 and 05.30

If you sign up for Octopus Intelligent Go all EV is charging is at £.07p when the vehicle gets charged is controlled by Octopus in conjunction with the charger company.

All home leccy is at £0.07 between those hours

Can't comment on his figures but I've done a similar(ish) journey having just returned from Cornwall with a stop off in Bognor Regis on the way home to pick up the dog!

Our figures are as follows in our Ioniq 5 which has a stated range of 287 miles but in reality our actual range is 250 miles in the main.

Full charge at home: £6.20
Gridserve (fast charger) on the way up whilst we had a Macca's breakfast: £18.59
Resort charge: £14.00
Council car park charging: £14.78
Instavolt (fast charger) on the way back: £18:18 *

Total charging costs: £71.75

Total miles covered: 680

* If you ever want to see what the end of the world might look like have a Google for the Instavolt chargers at the Gissons Hotel (nr Exeter), it's a wasteland of a place with the chargers placed at the back of a derelict hotel.

I can comment as I had the same 318d and I was lucky to get 40mpg and the 61L tank would cost £85 for 536 miles.
Also the photo of the car charging shows trees with no leaves so obviosly a winter journey (6 deg) not August as claimed

''There is no mainstream EV on the planet right now that can match 700 miles to the tank.''

Not even his BMW

That's why I went for a plug-in hybrid for my company car as I do long journeys. I can do 600+ on a full tank (circa £70.00) with a full charge of electricty at home (circa £3.00) and no range anxiety and a quick top-up where needed.
Plus, I couldn't tow my caravan with an electric. When I retire and my journeys are smaller, I'll reconsider my options.

Local news (well almost) major recharging facility to be built in Wiltshire on the A303, sounds like it is close to Chicklade. It has been stated that one of the aims is to get charging cost down to around 50p/kw.

very easy to miss in the article -

He did this test 2 years ago!!
Also it was a loan car , the range shown will be based on driving style , I'm making an educated guess that previous loanees made a point of using all 408bhp. I know I do 😂
