The all things EV chat thread

Popped to my sister's last night to show her the car and whilst she test drove it I did the survey for them

God what a simple install they will have, meter with a cut out outside property. Mini consumer unit will be fed from that with the charger just 3 meters away. Gas meter next to it so easy earth bonding.

The car is a lot bigger than her 2013 Yaris hybrid that has 130k miles on so we have agreed a price that is little bit more than we buy any car would give but less than I'd get privately. I've thrown in 2 services and 2 MOT that I have paid for. Add a charger for total of £50 and she's very pleased with the package for her new car

Much like me the boot space was key. Fit her husband's guitar in and a pram for my niece fits so she's happy

Sorting out their tariff shortly

Going to slash her petrol bill which she is delighted with

Everyone's a winner 🏆

Except the British tax payers but Hey Ho.

I’ve not been self employed for over 20 years. The income tax and national insurance I pay personally and through my company would make your ring twitch.😆

Oh so pay yourself a small wage via the company to avoid even more tax?

Lovely 😍

Folks who choose to buy the fastest depreciating and blandest cars the world has ever known, generally because of work scheme freebies, shouldn't really start lecturing others on their own tax planning.

Bland In comparison to what ? I mean most cars on the road are just functional boxes being driven to oblivion, I fail to see how that's any better than an EV.

Fraud ? When I got my ev they were throwing in a free charger too, i could install it anywhere I liked, including my brother's house 😉

If I had tried to be sneaky about it then I'd understand but asking outright on a recorded line then confirmed in writing I doubt the fraud squad will be knocking anytime soon

Anything is better than a X5 to the fair

An X5 I think is the way I'd write it.

Why have a dig at the man. Yes I have an X5 - want to see the others - no electric though, soz.

EV's are bland. I didn't say that Skoda thing, I said all of them. Attack the subject, not the man.

But, the definition of bland is that butt ugly thing you've posted photos on and keep raving about it :ROFLMAO:

When my kids were small, my car choice was based on function, as will many peoples . Wether it was bland or not was not a consideration.

To be fair even when my kids are old my choices will be based on comfort (low cars just don't agree with me even now so at 50 or 60 I'd never get out of it!) and also practically because of golf I want the boot to fit clubs without taking the driver out, it's a bug bear for me

I quite like some of the modern electric SUVs lots of space and nice comfortable ride with sub 4 second 0 to 60

Got to be comfortable when you get thrown back into the seat lol 😆

Very rarely boot it , only when joining a motorway / a road to get up to the correct speed for merging , don't like when people dither up them and brake find it unsafe

I love the acceleration, I do have to warn passengers before I engage 🤣🤣
