I can imagine, we were discussing the battery change from 58 to 59kWh .. I asked if this was a new battery or a software update. The true battery is 62kWh .. so I wanted to know if the battery part numbers differed, if they did then it’s a new battery, if not then it’s a software or new hardware to manage charging discharging.Whilst he may know. The obd also displays state of charge
Many dealers have made this mistake
Best way to know battery degradation is to charge it fully and check through obd exact amount of kWh.Just looking at a nearly new ID3. They seem to be quite expensive and the dealers aren’t engaging with any haggling (currently) . What was interesting was one vehicle which was 7-8 months with around 3000 miles had a battery health state of 94%. VW have an 8yr 100k warranty on batteries. You can get it replaced when it’s below 70% on this warranty.
But I felt that was too big a degradation for such a small mileage/ young car.
I will double check other cars .. but we were looking at the 58/59 kWh .. so perhaps we should direct our attention towards the 77kWh cars as their range would still be more than 230miles if depleted.
Have Tusker improved?Well my order has been approved and moved onto "on order" rather than pending approval (everyone thought TFL wouldnt keep up with demand and tuskers policy that all paperwork must be signed within 48 hours if ordering an instock car, but they managed)
so the car should be here within the next few weeks. I now must take the private plate off the wifes car before selling.
been reading more into our scheme. seems very reasonable. excess is a standard £250 for my age which isnt unreasonable on the insurance. The tyres they deal with kwikfit so if your tread drops below 2mm they just replace them for you. just book yourself into kwikfit and they will pay it.
I can get a charger installed by them. Now im not sure if to bother.. I have a charger.. if I had a second installed I could tech charge 2 at once but would need to limit them to half speed to keep under the 80amp fuse so seems a bit pointless. Ive never needed to charge 2 at once and always have 3 pin charger if it was the case.
id like it to arrive before we go on our cruise. Only because its a 250 mile drive total so wouldnt need to factor in any charging, considering its under 2 hours each way the kids would make it anyways. wouldnt need that much a charge in the kia, quick top up. However the bigger boot would also mean we can fit even more cases lol.
need to find out if we can have 2 cars on lease at the same time via the scheme. dont get me wrong I love my kia but that said if I have the final fee (22k) sitting in the account for it when it comes around leasing another car would be tax effiecent and could just least the same car again.
keeping my eye out for the EV5 release from kia. that is my next car after the skoda due to the size of it compared to the EV9 which is massive. Long as the kids have space im golden

They offered a "favourable" scheme through my employer a few years ago. I checked it out thoroughly and found non-negotiable list prices and higher interest rates than you'd get walking into a dealership.
Test drove an Elroq today.Thinking about changing the Golf R for something more sensible over the next few months in time for retirement in December. Need something that will fit a muddy dog in the back some days and gardening equipment on others.
I had a shortlist. Just popped into the Skoda dealer in Mansfield to see the Elroq. It has immediately shot the top of the list and I might not look any further. It's nice.
EV or Elroq specific way it drives?Test drove an Elroq today.
Love everything about it except the way it drives, which is obviously something of a dealbreaker.
Possibly my most underwhelming test drive in over 30 years of car buying.
I'm not sure. I have been a passenger in EVs but this was my first drive.EV or Elroq specific way it drives?
Brakes are usually spongy if they have just used regen all the time, as the disc and pads go off or “green” .. so you have to do a few big stops and use the foundation braking.I'm not sure. I have been a passenger in EVs but this was my first drive.
Braking was very soft and spongy.
Steering felt a bit vague, which is disappointing as it's RWD.
I had hoped that the nausea I get as an EV passenger wouldn't occur when I was driving, but it did.
I thought I was ready to take the plunge but maybe not.
Are you not familiar with the old adage "never sell a car to friends or family"?So the delivery date for the Skoda has been said as "late July" not long really. Have taken the private plate off the wife's car. Got it ready to sell. My sister has expressed an interest so she gets first refusal at discount ofc.

Even when we gave my wife's previous car to our daughter as a GIFT problems came back to bite us!![]()
One of the very useful EV features is the abilty to pre cool the car in the summer. It sounds like a hovercraftbut its so nice to get into a car thats not oven temps inside.
