Ah the joys of an EV when they go wrong...

My 2 year old Nissan X-Trail e-power packed up on Sunday, driving along happily when suddenly the dash lit up saying e-power fault pull over, i was about 2 miles from my house so thought I would try to get home... Wrong, about 100 yards later it died, I managed to aim it towards the kerb with its dying breath. Put the hazards on and red triangle out, (still got occasional abuse from passing motorists who seemed to think i had parked that way deliberately!)

The RAC turned up 2.5 hours later, excellent effort by the guy, he tried loads of different things to get it going and finally got it into a limping mode so i could drive it home.
Next day phoned Nissan, they said that due to a lack of technicians the earliest they can look at it is the 25th November! 7 Weeks time! I have asked them for a courtesy car but customer service has not come back to me yet!

You would think that as they build them in this country, they should have a few spare in the factory if the dealers are snowed under. 25th November is nuts.

My son had a similar thing.
It took 4 months to get the part.

Sadly it's across the board. Most dealerships are run by huge groups, and costs have been cut. Its got almost as bad as the doctors when you try and get an appointment, and it's not just private vehicles but commercial ones as well.

Actually trying to get the thing recovered to Nissan Romford is proving a headache too. RAC seem so incompetent, over the last two days they have sent a vehicle that is too small twice! now the big flatbed is on its way but I have had to send it away because the dealership needs it before 5.30!

Got to try again tomorrow.

I have to say, that when I needed the AA when my van gave up, they were excellent and sent the correct size flatbed.

That car isnt an EV, more like a weird hybrid.

A mate of mine has an iPace, he's just glad he doesn't own it.
The depreciation is not good.

I bought mine used, not worried about depreciation, all cars lose money.

It is down as a mild hybrid but really it’s a pure EV that carries its own electrical generator with it wherever it goes. A 1.5L engine that only charges up the battery, no connection to the wheels at all.

A pure EV that runs on petrol ? Its an interesting car to be sure, but its not an EV

Semantics old chap. I drive around with an internal combustion engine that charges up my battery, you charge your battery via a power station that might be powered by burning Virgin Canadian forest or maybe burning natural gas, your just quibbling about where the emissions are produced.

Nothing sematic at all, im sure it's a lovely car, but EVs do not run on petrol. Its a hybrid, sort of. More akin to a diesel electric train than an EV car.

Its an EV, with a petrol engine charging it. There is no drive from the petrol engine.
Its what the new London cabs have, as do the London buses and they are classed as EV.
