This is really not that tricky. Alter/update the standard for car park widths per car. Not rocket science. Same for garages, same problem.
The standard just needs updating, simples.

Wish it was that simple. Wider spaces means less spaces, people moan they can't park. More spaces means more land paved over - environmentalists moan, companies moan at extra cost, etc, etc.
No simple solution to the wide car scenario.

Companies moan about the cost of everything, they are obsessed with profits. Oh we could provide a better service and only make 10 billion instead of 12.. invest in our services so customers get better service
As always plenty of solutions people just put across problems as a barrier for a reason and settling for second class rather than striving for better.

All new car parks make every space the same.. no bigger for kid spaces or disabled
. Just make them all have the same access around. Obviously restrict a few so disabled people get guaranteed spaces but can park in a regular space without issue.
Ofc the neigh sayers will moan about cost and space whilst they accept being shunted around for company profits rather than saying nope it's really not good enough

I find it strange that our resident EV evangelist (and probably a green crusader) wants more of our green space covered in tarmac to provide bigger car parks to fit all the bigger cars.
I think if people were offered a car park with fewer but larger spaces then they would take that option. Less chance of scrapes and dents. Less stress parking and getting out. It's crackers that things have not updated with time.

Our local multi-storey I avoided like the plague, it was just out of date and all of the spaces were tight regardless of whether you're an ICE/EV driver. There were big complaints about it due to the damage that people were having done to their cars and people started actively avoiding it. That must have eventually hit the bottom line as it was closed for a few months whilst they repainted the lines to make the appropriate for today's cars. It's now a brilliant car part, all the spaces are equivalent to disabled/parent spots and loads of space. Since reopening I haven't noticed any increase in queues to park due to the decrease in spaces. I wish more car parks would take note.

One of the dads at Scouts did show me his MG ZSev last week. They have some weird adapter on the rear bench to fit in 3 child seats, and even the tiny bike had to go on a rack instead of the boot. That car is off my list now.
Our junior is the tallest and youngest in his class, so we need something with hight. He is a single child, so width isn’t that important. So if when i win the lottery it is an ID Buzz that week, otherwise by the end of this year it’s going to be a Skoda Enyak, I think. We just really got used to the space an estate car gives us.

Our Sainsbury’s has all spaces with double lines between the cars. That’s really nice. Still going to Tesco, though. The light inside of that Sainsbury’s gives me headaches.

Just starting to watch Clarksons Farm... (spoiler alert) He is trying to buy a failed Pub and applies for planning permission to improve it. The council seemed to be worried what would happen if they become successful and the problems that it will create. The amount of challenges councils put private companies is madness...

It’s because of all the safety gadgets. Airbags ,electric windows/ mirrors , parking sensors etc cars now are just mobile computers.
Why dosnt an oem make a simple car with the basics in ?

I suspect a number of gadgets are still required for the NCAP rating however. I don't like all of them, lane departure for example, but many are literal life savers.

Adaptive Cruise control my car detected a car cutting in front of me slammed the brakes on at 70mph and nearly got rear ended by a truck.
But a human would realise what was happening ,lift off the accelerator but not slam the brakes on.
I don’t use ACC anymore.

I don't have it on my current car but stopped using it when I realised it could not detect cars coming on slip roads, nor would it pick up a tractor doing 20-25mph until I was within the scanning distance, obvious really. At that point I decided I would just leave it off and deal with everything old school. Nearly a nice idea but it has its limitations.

We stopped for lunch in Bologna-Sur-Mar. It was surprisingly nice once we found the old city bits. Just 20 minutes to Le Shuttle, so we could time our arrival. The money we saved on the cheaper ticket went there instead ;-)

When it comes to wider spaces for cars it is not parking places but also garages.
I live in a 1970s built close/estate of 40 houses only one person on the estate parks their car in the garage and she drives a modern Fiat 500. Her garage door is only just wider then the car.
When we moved in I owned a 1970s Cavalier. I drove it in to the garage, tried to get out and drove out of the garage again. The one and only time my car was in the garage.
