The all things EV chat thread

Do the lights change on modern cars as well, or did you sticker up?
With led you might get options I don’t have on halogen lights.

I have big white miles and small red km on the dash, so I was ok there.

The lights on my Vauxhall had matrix lights..only good thing about the car. It would adapt and you didn't have to sticker up

The Kia it's not 100% clear but believe it's bulbs. We took the stickers with us and if we had driven in the dark would have stuck them on but we didn't drive in anything but bright sunshine

It’s never a bad thing - until the tech has an issue , can’t rely on everything to be 100% full proof
On this we are only talking about the display showing kmph instead of mph. That is not advanced stuff and if the kmph isn't working there is a pretty good chance that the mph display isn't working either.

The way people bang on you would think old cars never broke 🤣 must imagine all those AA vans about

It’s all nice stuff for things to flip automatically but again it wouldn’t take much for someone to think it’s flipped but it hasn’t and then get caught speeding etc

They throw some much technology into cars to try and make driving “easier” when in some cases it makes some lazy

Even simple things like reverse sensors and people getting too reliant on them and for many not using basic driving skills

I hate EV's :ROFLMAO:

Roads full of bland cars with more lights than Blackpool Tower, overtaking like they drive something out of Star Wars, then hog the middle lane at 60.

Instead of cycle paths, we should build lanes for these nuisances.

Have you not been custom fit for one yet?

No idea how we managed to get to German bases in the old Bedford 4 tonner or Defender Land Rover

Prob because they didn’t go fast enough to get a speeding ticket 😂
Unless youre going so slow on the motorway the Police pull you over and say you have to stop and leave it there until its recovered.
When you tell them the turbo has gone, and youre on the way back to barracks after a tour of NI and your loaded with kit and weapons, then they change thier mind;)

My Mazda 3 did all of this, but that was only new in 2017.;)
It's amazing what tech some cars had years ago in cars some people havent had or used;)

The reliability of cars is so much better now, it's ridiculous in comparison. I do accept that modern tech has made them harder to fix yourself but the build standards are different levels.

I do appreciate that not all tech is good but some stuff really is that little bit better.

I can afford custom fit because I don't suffer the depreciation of a silly, useless for anything but a toddle to the shops, EV. In fact, I could custom fit the whole membership with that saving on one (white, private reg) Tesla :ROFLMAO:

That's why people lease. Salary sacrifice.. tax efficiency.. 40% off (35% after bik tax) then it's small fry for a car, insurance, break down, maintenance etc

Say its £600 per month .. that becomes £390.. plus £20 charge a month £410 to do 1000 miles per month zero worries about depreciation.. hand it back

Have to be harder to fix with how much more reliable they are garages would go bust 🤣

I wake up, fancy a particular car, go collect.

EV owners have to enrol for a financial degree and ask their bosses permission.

As I said, hate them, but don't want to derail the thread, so honestly, save all your counter arguments, because my opinion will never change and will be dead before the plod come to arrest me for driving a totally environmentally damaging car, with a smile.

There is some utter xxxxxxx written on this forum and this is up there with the best of it.

I’ve just ordered an EV and haven’t been required to ask permission from anyone or get any kind of qualifications.

Sound like the real reason you won’t go EV is you are scared that you might not understand the technology. I bet you struggle to understand WHS too.

My current EVs

Niro I went into Kia and bought it , paid the deposit and signed the PCP

My wife's Kona I just paid by card as it was second hand

Same process as the cars before that .. which were ice

What did you end up going for?

Fully loaded ID7 GTX Touring, with the smaller wheels for added comfort.

My comments were tongue in cheek, but sadly, as per the EV mandate, you insult.

My tech knowledge is first class. My cars tech is top notch.

I won't go EV because they're ugly and not compatible with my lifestyle and I certainly don't want to be a stereotype, nor stop on my journey like a 90 year old with a weak bladder.

OK for you?

Edit: you have reinforced the stereotype in those two words when asked what your car is - Fully & Loaded - wow, so impressed lol.
