Sounds like some sort of bs. I mean plug in charge, unplug drive. Can't really see what you can do wrong.I don't know, he doesn't know.
They have made their ruling on it, and thats that.

Thats what he thought.Sounds like some sort of bs. I mean plug in charge, unplug drive. Can't really see what you can do wrong.
I was told by an exec from an EV company that the battery needs to be charged, and then mostly discharged to prolong battery life
If it does 25 miles and is then recharged, or is constantly on charge unless it is being driven. over a long period, this can impact battery life.
might be something like this
I can't see how that could possibly void the warranty.I was told by an exec from an EV company that the battery needs to be charged, and then mostly discharged to prolong battery life

Has to be more to it then.Thats what he thought.
Why would he lie, he loved the car.
As others have said, this is utter BS.One of our swindle groups brother has a Merc EV. Its been playing up for a little while. Merc dealer has decided the battery pack needs replacing, but it's failure is due to his charging of it and the warranty doesn't cover it. They only want 10k.
Unfortunately, for every bad news story of EV charging, there are probably 1000 good news stories never told. Sadly, this will continue for years to come and in some cases, justified but the charging infrastructure is growing every day.So we went M1 to Warwick. Stopped at Newport pagnell 70 miles away from home
Left home 98%
Got there 78%
Charged up to 93% whilst we had lunch (now once it hits 80% was very slow so if we had been at say 40% would have put us back to 80 easily but more than enough)
We now have enough to get home in one but we find 1 hour 30 mins perfect for the girls bladders . We continued to Warwick castle which we got to with 74% which as I said can get us home but will top up if chargers are available at the services. 13/16 were available on way up
Very successful drive

1,135 new chargers installed last month taking the total up to 106,094 connectors
I'm confused. We now have enough to get home in one but we find 1 hour 30 mins perfect for the girls bladders . We continued to Warwick castle which we got to with 74% which as I said can get us home but will top up if chargers are available at the services. 13/16 were available on way up

If you can get home with what you've got (where you can charge the car at about 7p a unit) why would you even consider paying >50p at a public charger on the way?
Hold the front page - EV fan in range anxiety shock! We will be stopping regardless, so I'll charge just to have "just incase" range, I mean everyone worries that what if you need to go on a 59 mile diversion
Will only cost £10-20 so I'm not worried.

(Only teasing, Paul. Just a bit of banter)
Your point about an unexpected diversion is taken, but surely there must be other chargers on that route if needed?
Or at least that's what people keep saying - that the charging infrastructure is getting very acceptable. (Or perhaps not? )
But aren't you one of the guys who says that EVs are best suited when you can home charge? It's more the fact we are stopped regardless so ABC, always be charging .. why waste a 20 mins or more stop ? If you can charge top up and then won't need to make unexpected stops

You seem to be very interested in how much your PV system saves you, so I'd have thought you would have the same attitude regarding the cost of running a car.
I just don't understand why anyone would voluntarily pay more than 5 times the price for electricity when they don't need to.
Just looking at my ohme stats. Spent 330 on charging this year and done 10500 miles.and I drive like I stole it TBFYes they are , however the charge network isn't bad and I don't mind using it when required
Considering how much I save charging at work / the golf club I'm really not concerned about £20 extra
I've done 10729 miles thus far since measuring charging at a total cost of £109.52 (£72 public included)... So even if I put £30 in tomorrow it would keep the cost per mile at 0.013p
It's a drop in the ocean (considering how much snacks cost at Warwick it just gets chucked on the trip costs)

Do you get free charging at the golf club? We've not put chargers in yet ?I'd be nearer that without golf club charging to be fair
However if I have or choose to use the public network it don't bother me
IE I won't worry about the pence per kWh , even if one was 10p cheaper just down the road id just use what's needed to get me going
Add to that all the smart charging which gets me 7p for the whole house ,I average 10p per kWh on my bills.I'd be nearer that without golf club charging to be fair
