I have just started using zero friction tees (the ones with 3 prongs on top) and i dont know if it has anything to do with the tee but my driving seems to be more consistent now, probably all in my head, but i was just wondering if anyone else has any experience of using these tees.

Me too!

I will confess to splurging on a box of tees last year.

200 for £12, from Lees Tees, having read an article about them. He claims to use better, stronger wood from Britain rather than whatever the cheap imports are made of.

I've still got about 15/20 left so I class that as a good buy. As you can hit about 5 or 6 drives with one and they rarely break.

Recommended.

I don't break tees very often. Since you are supposed to hit the driver on the up swing, how can you break the tee?

If you swing down at it, then you will break it.

I find my driver tends to nibble bits of the perimeter off the top of the tee, until there isn't enough left to support the ball. This is normally after a whole round or more.

When the ground is hard and you hit on the upswing you can still break tees! Especially if you use very long ones like I do!!

I don't know how you could possibly hit a driver on the down swing off your left foot? Surely it would just go along the ground!

Mind you, I only insert them about 3mm into the ground. Because I hover my club at address, and have a fairly flat swing, I can have the ball teed up quite high. Because they aren't in the ground much, they just fall over when I hit the ball.

Ah, that's the reason you don't break them - I worry they might fall over if they aren't securely in the ground!

I bought a pack from DG at the weekend and have been using them for the driver. Hard to say cos it's a new driver as well.
Always used wooden ones until now, My brov got me a bag of wooden tees with me name on a an xmas pressie about 12 yrs ago, I've still got some left but scratch name off, it's embarassing, cos ain't got the game at the mo to justify.

It doesn't really make a difference. I just prefer white wooden ones because, as with most things to do with golf, it's all in the head. :p

Yes, plastic ones will be fine!

Good luck with your round

I'm using these tees and loving them! I'm mid-way between pink and silver castles for the driver and have been experimenting with various heights. Thankfully (or maybe not) you can see where on the face of my G5 the ball came out. I've hit some beauts with these tees.....do I believe in the friction lark?.....NO....not at all... :)
As a long term user of castles (silver for driver, blue for 3 wood, everything else red) I'm surprised I like one where the height is only as consistent as you make it.
I like these, not lost one yet either.....lurid pink is kind of hard to not see!

Only used the castle tees in winter on mats because of the short spike.

I just think that they are so rigid in the height, I like to vary for conditions. Also don't use tees on shortish par 3's
