So, my latest thing to help my golf, is to tee up on the far right or left of the teeing area depending on where I want to hit the ball. Not the middle. If I tee up in the middle then I'm assuming I'm going to smoke it straight. Lol like that's going to happen. But if I pick a side, right or left, then I things go better. Now, my driving is awful at the moment as Im lifting my back foot off the ground and end up twirling left and hooking the ball off waaaaaaay left. But, when things are ok I'm getting into good places on the fairway. Especially down our 12th. Index 4 or summat, parred twice now, on the trot. And par threes are going well, a big nemesis of mine.

I thought most people did that? Tee it up on the side that opens the hole up best or suits your shot shape (i.e. tee up on the right to hit a fade that starts left).

Two things for me.......1. If there is a slight angle advantage to being on the left or right I will move to the side that is better....unless.... 2. The tee box is crap and there are no good choices on where to stand that are flat-ish. I don't mind the ball being slightly higher than my feet, but not below my feet. I'll stand where I get the flatter area.

I will sometimes put my feet outside the teeing area to get the best preferred angle for me. Probably do this once or twice a round at my club.
Hardly ever see anyone else doing it.
Mind you, there will be some who will not know that it is allowed.

More of a winter thing, but the thing I don’t understand is why everyone tees up right at the tee box line, even when it looks like the Somme, when you can have nice fresh ground just 1 yard back. No way the better stance and visual isn’t worth more than a yard of distance.

It is a funny one that. When I want to fade I tee it up on the left hand side and aim down the left hand side of the fairway.

Bloke I plays with does this on every tee shot. Right handed and he will tee his ball up just inside the left hand tee marker, and stand well outside the left hand marker, so that he has to swing over the tee marker...and he is only a foot or so inside....there is plenty of space for his shaft to clear the tee marker but it just looks bloody weird, bordering on terrifying, to me!!!

I do this quite a bit. Slightly annoying that they put a box of sand just next to the yellow tees.....so since I'm right handed I often just walk up and pick the box up and move it 3 or 4 feet further away so I can stand where the box was.

Why? That's just going to fade away from the middle and into the right hand rough. The idea of going to the right hand side is that it gives you more space to start it left and fade back to the middle.

Ours put the sand box on the right side of the tee.
There a fewer left handed players so it dosnt get moved very often!

No most of my shots end up in the middle/to the right side of the fairway. Takes away some of the risk of a pull ending up in the left rough.

I think the tee marker can be a great alignment aid. I often use it when my alignment is off. Good for hand and ball position too.

Every small gain is a bonus, even if it is only a few yards to the left or right, it can change the visuals of a tee shot in your head

Maybe with your power fades

If I’m hitting driver I usually tee up towards the right side, aim to the left of the fairway, allowing for a fade fade back on. Depends how much trouble is on the right really.

Remember playing in a pro am once and the pro commented that doing this usually results in a bigger fade/ slice. I’m guessing this is more to do with poor alignment, you’re more open than you think because it’s visually harder to line up square. Not sure.

I do think i need to trial teeing up on the left and letting it fade around the corner on a dog leg left. Maybe in a stableford when I’m out of the comp!
