Could be, but it seems to happen consistently with that brand so that does put me off.

Got to agree with you LT , i played a spider mallet for many years with success but was always annoyed that it looked beaten up and abused after the first 6 months. I knew I took care of it but the finish was awful and degraded very quickly. Sadly I found this with other TM products too. They work well but look like pooh after a year!

I had another great putting day with it yesterday, I did have two 3 putts but those were from errors I made with either speed or read. More than made up by the ones I did make though, including a few very key putts.

That’s the thing, I look at 6ft putts and feel it’s highly likely to go in. So it minimises shots significantly. Takes pressure off the short game and in turn that improves

I’m hoping the latest models are better. If it is a pvd finish rather than paint then they should be durable.

I’ve just come back from my putter fitting at Scottsdale. I tried the new TM spider, 3 LABs, Ping , Mizuno , Scottie. But in the end none of them came out better than my Odyssey Rossie , so I’ve stuck with that … I did have a fitting for a driver and ended up with Ping G440

Fitter had the weight on the head towards draw position . He got me up from 200yr carry with my Mizuno STx 220 to 215 and nice and straight..

Could be the quality of the headcover or lack off rubbing the paint.?

With the spider paint work, the Velcro loses its grab and they always fall off. Doesn’t help that people leave them in the bag with no cover as they are fed up waking back to pick it up.

I always change my head covers to an after market one as I think all mallet covers are a little poor although the magnet on the s2s is pretty good. I have a snazzy one but haven’t even opened it yet.

I don't have the S2S, I've recently bought the AI One Jailbird Cruiser and so far I'm loving it. Those 4-6 footers I'm now far more confident over, I'm more surprised when I miss them just now. The pace control on long putts (30+ foot) has been phenomenal for me, I've nearly made quite a few that end up 1 foot behind the hole. The roll is so pure, the ball just seems to keep going end over end.

When I look at my stats for the last 15 rounds I'm seeing a marked improvement. Let's see how long it continues when the mental scars start to build up but so far, so good.

I have just looked at my last few rounds .. since owning the S2S JBird I have seen a reduction from 18 putts /9 to 15 Putts/9 .. even last night on light tined greens the results were solid.
But I would caveat my stats that my whole short game has improved due to practice. Iron play though has degraded ..
