'Team GM' for the 2012 Volvo Matchplay Championship

Can't believe the amount of HDID numpties that have been picked! Pretty poor.

JJF69 and I look forward to getting further than every HDID member picked for team GM!

Gauntlet has been thrown down!!!

I join these forums to play golf and meet golfers of different abilities. I have just done a 1,000 mile round trip to attend the latest HDID meet. Some of the guys there had already done a weeks tour of Scotland before the meet and eventually clocked even more miles than I did. I do not consider myself to be on any "team", I just like to play golf, especially on new and different courses, and utilising these forums is the best way of doing this. The more forums you join the better your chances are of getting a game somewhere different/new. If it is a competetive game (like the Volvo) then even better.

P.S. I do not have any gauntlets to throw down, just a Titleist Perma Soft. :fore:

I wasn't selected cos I never entered it as I had already booked my place months ago. Looking forward to it this year and hope I can go one further this time (with all my clubs ;-) )

Craw see you at the Scottish finals again.

Good luck to everyone thats entered..

Hendo, all the best big chap, although I will point out one thing. If the weather and conditions are like last year I certainly won't be playing.

Fact.

Played my first round last night for "Team GM" and I am safely through to the next round. Won at home on the 17th with a nice birdie 3. Played a very steady 16 handicapper that used his 12 shots very wisely. Next round I am away to a 7 handicapper so only giving 3 shots this time. The game is at a course that I know well as we play there regular in the Dorset Leagues :D

Thanks Craw, we had a good game. Never more than 2 holes in it. The clincher was getting up and down for par and a half from a deep greenside bunker on 15 to stay 1 up.

wooooo robbo!

Well that didn't last long, I was knocked out of the Volvo yesterday, away to a "7" handicapper. Knew it was going to be tough when I started par, birdie, par and was 1 down. (The birdie got me a half). The clincher was when the guy said he hardly ever played in any competitions any more. Was a close match and we had a good chat but the home advantage proved decisive, even though I have played there many times. At least I didn't have to pay a greenfee. Also, I holed my longest putt ever, paced it out afterwards and it was about 31 yards, and it was for a 2. It made Terry Wogan's look like a tap in. Ah well, there is always next year.
