Any pc buffs on here that can help me. I am wanting to do a complete system restore as far back as I can.I think I have a virus and want rid.   Can I do a total reboot. I have restored before but can only go back so far. Is it possible to get my pc back to square one. I have no problem of losing everything as I have backed up all my photos. I have very limited pc knowledge apart from switching on and surfing. I am really looking for an idioyd guide... :D

I am using windows ,not the latest one, vista I think.

Cheers in advance.

format c: in an MSDOS window will blow everything on your HD but if you dont have much idea on what your doing best you dont.

Why dont you just get a virus checker and get rid of the virus m8?

Do you have the proper operating system disk (vista)? and the license sticker?
Do you have any driver disks?
Have you copied all your important files to somewhere?
Do you have the disks for your software?
Can you remember where any free ap's came from?

If yes, sure you can!!!

Just to be sure - you don't have a rescue option with your OS and drivers stored on a partition? If you do, that is the way forward.

If not, you need to format your hard drive and then re-load windows and find any drivers not included in vista.

I did my XP desktop not so long ago....it wasn't so hard. As long as you can connect to the internet (maybe not even on the PC you are doing) you can find obscure drivers quite easily.

You need time and patience, but it'll be worth it.
